07.01.2022 Stunning new addition to the Warra View herd this morning a heifer from Goldstein Park Salsa sired by Five Star to the Batmobile (and in my humble opinion she is destined to be five stars). A credit to her breeder Craig Corby of Goldstein Park Limousins.

05.01.2022 Today we ran the last of our cows into the crush for the last of the Ai breeding this year. We can feel confident in our heat detection with our #Flashmate electronic heat detectors. These heat detection devices are not just for the dairy industry. We find #flashmate are suited to our program. ... We have been using this device for 3 years now and nothing comes close to it. It’s a 3 step process of: #1 brush the location site to be applied. #2 spray on glue and allow to become tacky. #3 apply device and wait for a green flash to indicate its active. (See video in comments.) When cow is in heat the flashmate will flash red meaning the cow is ready to join. If the cow doesn’t hold to Ai the flash mate will again flash red on her second cycle ready to be joined again. If there is no heat activity for 28 days the flashmate will flash green normally indicates the cow is in calf. We find the #flashmate is not affected by branches and tree providing false heats like past heat detection devices used here on the farm. We have had great results using these including the last round of cows all coming back as pregnant in testing from the Ai. Thanks Farmshed labs NZ and Fraser Smith for supplying once again.
