19.01.2022 With the harsh reality of the COVID 19 pandemic, now more than ever it has brought forward just how beneficial it is to live in a Lifestyle Village. Apart from the security, there is also less chance of feeling isolated - because someone is on site 24 hours a day to attend to any residents worries or needs. We can't wait for life to resume back to the normal that we once knew, but maybe during these days in isolation it might be time to gather some information on what is involved with moving to Woodlands Grove. 18.01.2022 UTILISING A SMALL SPACE Jean and Brian first heard about Woodlands Grove when they visited the Retirement Village & Lifestyle Expo in Adelaide. After chatting with the sales team, Brian was keen to... go to Mount Gambier for a look Jean was not! He coaxed Jean into going to Mount Gambier for a visit Brian fell in love, but Jean was still sceptical. Brian could see the benefits of moving to Mount Gambier. They could sell their home in Adelaide have some money left over to enjoy in their retirement. The couple were still young enough to make new friendship groups and enjoy all the facilities that Woodlands had to offer. Brian worked on her and finally got her to agree to make the move 2 years later. They put their home on the market and sold within a couple of month. Unfortunately, the home size they wanted wasn’t available, so they settled for a smaller design. They built in the pergola area to make an extra living area this is now like their own private oasis and area where they love to sit and relax. Sadly Brian passed away and it’s now that Jean can see why he was so insistent that they move to an affordable Lifestyle Village. Being at Woodlands surrounded by friends and other people in the same position as her, has made the grieving process a little easier for Jean. She misses Brian every day, but knows now that they made the right decision to move. I didn’t want to move because I thought it was a place for old people and I’m not an old person!! says Jean. But I would definitely recommend it to anyone it really is a great lifestyle! she continues. She enjoys going to the Community Centre to socialise, there’s always plenty to do if you want it. But Jean also likes the sanctuary of her own home. She enjoys the peace and quiet. She doesn’t have to worry about mowing the lawns and the maintenance man can help her with any jobs around the home. 18.01.2022 NO REGRETS! We made the decision to move to Woodlands in 2006, 14 years ago. It was a significant decision at the time, but with hindsight it was the correct decision, leaving us with no regrets. When asked how we enjoy Lifestyle Village Life, we usually say it is an appropriate place to live for people our age and as we get older it becomes even more appropriate. We particularly like the security surrounding the lifestyle, leaving you free to travel, coming and going wi...thout having to worry about the safety of our home. There is peace and quiet with the absence of the unwanted noise from traffic or loud music etc. as well as the comfort of knowing that there are Support Staff on call 24/7 if the need arises. We also appreciate the choice of being as private or socially active as we wish, with 30 or so activity groups operating on designated days to provide entertainment or keep us busy if we desire, there is no need to ever feel lonely. There is an opportunity each year for any resident to be nominated to be a member of the Resident’s Committee which communicated with Management to discuss requests or suggestions coming from residents, so as to be included in the running of the Village and the lifestyle which we all enjoy. 13.01.2022 On Saturday - Food Bank set up at The Marketplace Mount Gambier to gather donations for this years can drive. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of donations - we can proudly announce that 1109 kilos of food was the tally for this years drive. This equates to 2218 meals that will be gratefully accepted by those in need this Christmas and the coming months. Vince Versace would like to thank Lyn Neshoda from Food Bank and everyone for their donations and to those who came along to help with collections on the day. It's wonderful to see such a caring community - especially during a time when everyone is struggling with Covid restrictions.

12.01.2022 A lot of people moving to Woodlands Grove have turned their gardens into their own little haven's. Establishing a new garden from scratch is a rewarding experience. Rodney and Lyn made the move from Hamilton and have created such a beautiful space, I just had to share! This is what Rodney had to say when I asked him WHY they made the move and how they are settling in: "Why retire in Mt Gambier you ask me . that’s a good question. 1/ Lyn loves the cold..I tolerate the cold.... As usual Lyn wins. 2/ Lyn loves the country lifeI tolerate the country life. As usual Lyn wins. 3/ Lyn also loves the seaside and Mt G is only 20 minutes from the BayI can’t swim and I don’t really like lobster and accordingly I’m not particularly drawn to the sea but as usual Lyn wins. Why Woodlandsdid you check out all the available options? Yep, we looked in Warrnambool, Ballarat, Bairnsdale and the Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong but Mount Gambier offered good facilities without the traffic and at a very good price. Further our dwelling was new, spacious and located close to the local hospital which may be important as we get older. More important the golf club is only a few kilometres away and lawn bowling is on site.also Lyn loved it and so I didn’t even have to convince her. Lyn loves line dancing, tai chi (aka kung fu), ukuele, singing and aquasizing. Yes she is a country cow girl who sings and dances in the pool AND Woodlands had all these activities and a pool. As usual Lyn wins. I always remember what my mum told me happy wife is essential for a happy life. I’m happy here and all the neighbours also appear to be happy as well."
