25.01.2022 These posts are always the hardest. We lost our beautiful Latte, our most recent addition to a sudden illness. Latte was a fighter but unfortunately he was declining rapidly and suffering so we had to make the hard decision. It’s taken me a few days to write this, my heart has been heavy that I couldn’t save him. We still don’t know the exact cause of death. Yvette

25.01.2022 Saturday cuteness..it’s kidding season so I have opened our doors to the local farmers to take on the tiny runts of triplets that usually don’t thrive well and need intervention. So welcome our first very tiny boy, who doesn’t have a name yet. He is two days old and so far is taking the bottle well. I am glad This farmer reached out to see if we could help as they are not in a capacity to keep bottle babies and didn’t want to kill them. It’s a lot of work and money but we get paid in cuteness and this little guy it pretty damn cute.

23.01.2022 One more Bruce spam...everytime a kid walks past his tail does this little wag. I thought it was very cute! He is coming out of his shell and growing in confidence thanks to his amazing foster carers! Yvette

18.01.2022 This morning we were close to being flooded in. This is our front paddock this morning driving out. It has thankfully receded this afternoon but it won’t take much to reflood. We got close to 200ml overnight (possibly even more). We have had about 450ml since Christmas Eve. Everyone is safe and well thankfully! Now we just have to make sure we are prepared as possible as more rain is predicted to come our way! We hope you are all safe and dry! Yvette

18.01.2022 I always have stalkers when i do the rounds but Harry is certainly the prettiest!

18.01.2022 Welcome Latte to the Wyld Hearts Family. Latte was a very much loved pet that was surrended due to unfortunate circumstances. Latte had outgrown his current home and his owners dreamed of a better life for him. Latte has settled in nicely and is now one of the pack of big goats that free roam during the day. Yvette. #wyldheartssanctuary

They all have a unique story but they all have names and they all have a place in my heart. #wyldheartssanctuary

11.01.2022 Congratulations Nella on finding your forever home. Almost two years ago she was bought in to a vet clinic for euthanasia. She had a few behaviour problems and extreme anxiety. She has come such a long way in her time here. She has blossomed while on her two week trial and is already enjoying life with a family of her own. There are so many people to thank that have helped us along the way. The crew at Wulguru vet clinic, Mike at The Dogfather Training, everyone who has donated, toys, treats, food and bedding. Most importantly, word of mouth. No matter how long it takes, I know the right home will come along. So proud of Nella and I wish her the best of luck on her new journey. #wyldheartssanctuary

11.01.2022 When your awesome hubby builds some more shelters to keep the big goats out of the rain. No rest for us, rain or shine when we are home we are always working hard to keep improving this place for the animals. It’s far from being perfect but we always try and do the best for all the animals. We hope you are all enjoying this wet weather. Yvette Ps!!!! We are starting to see green grass! I am beyond excited!

08.01.2022 Welcome to Wyld Hearts Sanctuary. My name is Yvette and I am a veterinary nurse with a passion for saving animals. We live on 150 acres and I am slowly turning this place into a sanctuary for animals on the verge of destruction (euthanasia). In my industry, the single hardest part of my job is seeing perfectly healthy animals being euthanised for something that is treatable or can be rehabilitated. Most animals, given the right environment and care can go on to live a ha...ppy and healthy life. I have been a vet nurse for over 25 years and have raised, rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed countless animals. A huge part of my focus is education (training) and also making sure the animals I rehome are matched with the right family and have the right environment so they can really blossom to their full potential. Not only that, I want to ensure they don’t end up back in the system that I initially rescued them from. We have all types of animals here, dogs, goats, horses, sheep, pigs, chickens and more. We aim to provide the best possible care we can and won’t take in any more animals than financially affordable. Edit - We have now obtained official charity status! We can receive donations However at this stage they are not tax deductible. We are applying for our fundraising licence so we can actually do fundraisers soon. If you would like to donate our details are; Wyld Hearts Sanctuary INC BSB- 064 817 ACC- 10811975 Thank you for visiting the page. Please feel free to message the page if you would like any information about us or our animals for adoption. Yvette

07.01.2022 Adopting a dog is a wonderful feeling for us but not always as wonderful for them. I often see posters stating the 3-3-3 rule. For the first 3 days they are to...tally overwhelmed but will then start feeling a little calmer. After 3wks they start to feel safer and more at home and then after 3months they have properly settled in. This idea at least makes people realise that moving to a new home is a massive, life changing event for dogs and that they need time to settle in. However, I find it a little too prescriptive. Each dog is totally different, they were all born individuals and continue to become more unique with each life experience. I know some dogs that have settled in, in the first few days they arrived in their new home. The type of dogs that don't get fazed by much. Adapt to change easily and take everything in their stride. I've known others that have taken years to feel truly safe. When we take dogs into our lives, it's exciting! We can't wait to show them off, take them to wonderful places, get them spruced up at the groomers, have company and cuddles on the sofa. For them, they have just been taken away from everything they've known, they have no idea where they are going and have no clue that you are a person who wants to love and protect them. For many, your just another person in a long line of many who have let them down. Often people say it must be like moving to a new country where nobody speaks the language, you don't know the rules, the culture, what is expected of you or where anything is. We have just done this and at times it's terrifying but for a dog it's even worse! We had a choice! We decided to make these changes, we prepared ourselves, we saw photos, researched and had insight into what was happening. Our dogs get none of these privileges. No choice, no idea what is going to happen, no idea where they are going or who they are being left with. I often hear people say, but they should know I just want to love them. I've been nothing but kind, why do they still not trust me? If you had gone through half of what many of these dogs have been through, how easily could you trust? Would your anxieties and fears just disappear because one person started being nice to you? So instead of having rules about how many days they need to feel safe and settle in, let's allow them to guide us. Let's understand their body language so we know when THEY are ready to meet the whole family, go for a trip to the groomers, visit lovely places and even go for their first walk. When we adopt a dog let's take it at their pace, be guided by them, not be guided by our expectations. Give them space, give them time, give them choice but be predictable and keep our expectations low. Create environments where they feel safe and teach them in ways that are clear and kind. Each dog will settle in their own time, whether that's days, weeks, months or even sometimes years. It is a beautiful thing to watch a dog grow in confidence, learn new things, start to feel safe and loved. It's also a process that lasts their whole life. Bonds continue to change. I still have magical moments as I watch my boys change, even after years of sharing my life with them. I don't expect them to love me, trust me and feel safe with me, it's something that I constantly strive to earn.

07.01.2022 So I may have taken the cheat way and exercised the dogs and child at the same time this arvo. Hektor is such a champ, still waiting for his forever home! Yvette.

07.01.2022 Wayne is upgrading the pigs wallow today. Although Penelope wasn’t happy about being kicked out of it to start but I am sure she will enjoy it more when it’s finished. #wyldheartssanctuary

05.01.2022 Socket, the last of the goat babies got desexed this week. Dr Shannen from Tropical vets came out and desexed him under anaesthetic and with post op pain relief. All went smoothly and Socket was up posing for a selfie wanting his bottle moments after. Socket is also up for adoption to a pet only home. Yvette

03.01.2022 Bruce enjoying his foster home. What a good boy! He will hopefully be meeting some prospective adopters this coming week for a meet and greet. Yvette

02.01.2022 How’s your dogs recall? Even after a while without practice Nella’s recall is on point! Yvette

01.01.2022 We have two more babies. These two came in yesterday as critical and have survived and improved in the last 24 hours so I am hoping they have passed their biggest hurdle. They are tiny and underdeveloped. They are two from a set of quads that mum abandoned. They managed to find a nanny to foster two but these two could not even stand yesterday and we had doubts whether they would survive or not. I got some colostrum into them and they could only take a few mls at a time. They are now taking the teat and have a good set of lungs on them! Rubble has taken on dad duties! He is so good with them and let’s them lean on him and nibble his ears. So here’s to a long night and these babies getting a chance at life. Yvette

01.01.2022 Porky pig update. He has grown so much. He had a great arvo doing pig zoomies and playing with Toyo and Rubble (who he is now bigger than!). He got his special treat of some paw paw this arvo which he went crazy over! Yvette

01.01.2022 So the secret is out, those who don’t know me on a personal level wont know that I also on the side run charity drives for other charity’s. Every year in June and December I ask my friends and family to contribute to my selected cause instead of birthday or Christmas presents. This birthday in June I collected for Kate’s campaign for change! If you haven’t already liked this page please head over and support the amazing work Kate does in the community! I was definitely in the presence of greatness when I met up with Kate and her family today. Yvette

01.01.2022 BRUCE IS ADOPTED..... Who needs a lotto ticket when you have moments like this. Bruce hit the forever home jackpot with Greg and Cath. So much love here, my heart is bursting with joy!!!! #wyldheartssanctuary
