25.01.2022 The elephants are coming! Great news for our zoo. The State Government will provide $84 million in this month’s budget to transform Werribee Open Range Zoo. The funding will help provide a new home for the much-loved Asian elephant herd, currently housed at Melbourne Zoo. There will also be a tree-top Sky Safari gondola, a new specially designed site for rhinos and bison, and a brand-new waterhole precinct. If you’ve got an enquiry or need to make a payment, you can do so at the Wyndham City Civic Centre, Point Cook Community Learning Centre or Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre. A couple of things before you visit: please ensure you’re wearing a face mask, maintain at least 1.5 metres between yourself and others, and sanitise upon arriving and leaving. 14.01.2022 We’ve reached new heights at Werribee Street Six Victorian-made bridge beams known as L-Beams have been lifted into place over the road to form the n...ew rail bridge over Werribee Street. These beams weigh a whopping 130 tonnes each and were cast in Kilmore. Crews will continue to work around the clock to finish installing the remaining 54 beams and complete works on the retaining walls at each end of the new kilometre-long rail bridge. Removing the Werribee Street level crossing will improve travel for 20,000 vehicles that travel through the crossing daily.
