09.01.2022 On 25 April 1904 the Grand Lodge of Queensland was formed. This was the first attempt in the 20th century to form a local Grand Lodge so that Freemasonry could ...be governed by Queensland rather than by the Grand Lodges based in England, Ireland and Scotland. Grand Lodge of Queensland was not accepted by any of the English Lodges and not many of the Scottish Lodges. All but one of the Irish Lodges joined Grand Lodge of Queensland. Grand Lodge of Queensland was not recognized by many of the Grand Lodges of the world as it did not represent half of the Freemasons in Queensland. It was to be another 17 years until the divisions healed and UGLQ was formed. #freemasons #UGLQ See more

04.01.2022 Message from the Grand Master ANZAC Day Brethren,... For the first time in many decades we are not able to commemorate ANZAC day in our usual manner. I know we are all feeling more than a little empty and greatly disappointed that we can’t honour our service men and women in the time worn fashion that makes this day perhaps our greatest as a nation. No city, suburban, or country town parades. No official dawn services. No groups of mates getting together once again...sometimes for the last time. However, the importance of this day is not limited to spectacles and grand public salutes. It is about respecting the memories of those who have served and who are now departed and those who have served or are still serving and are among us. We can do this privately wherever we are and I dare say there are many who do it every day of the year. Bring to mind the faces of those important and close to you and then add to them the tens of thousands who you don’t know and who never knew you but were prepared to give everything to keep you safe and free. On ANZAC Day it will be hard not standing in our wonderful Court of Remembrance in Ann Street, laying a floral tribute at the Eternal Flame and experiencing the moving ceremony conducted each year by AIF Memorial Lodge in Grand Hall. However, these are small privations compared to those hardships and sacrifices made by those in our hearts. They would wish us to stand strong, remain steadfast and focus on the future. After all that is the only fitting way of acknowledging the price they were and are still prepared to pay to clear the path before us. How we follow that hard won road and what we make of the future they made possible should be the lasting tribute to those who serve and what, I’m sure, they would truly wish. Lest we forget. Yours fraternally MW Bro Paul Holland Grand Master, UGLQ
