18.01.2022 The creator of Papa Drew, Andrew, is our 8th maker of our 24 Makers of Christmas. Based in Ferny Hills, Andrew makes a range of shirts, based on a 70's style ...shirt pattern, using reclaimed fabric. I believe there’s enough fabric out there so no need to buy new. All shirts are carefully cut out by me, many using my 150 year old Heinisch tailor’s shears, then sewn locally in Brisbane. No two shirts are the same making them truly original. Andrew gets a thrill out of creating something original that can't be bought in bulk. He says that discovering unique fabrics/prints and having the vision for how they'll work in a shirt. We asked Andrew what his all-time favourite product that he makes and why. My all-time favourite shirts usually wind up in my cupboard! Suffice to say my cupboard is overflowing, but to date the most unique shirts I've made have been created from tablecloths of all places. 08.01.2022 Hello Bayside communtiy, I recently had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with Nadine Le Man, owner of the Wynnum Music Centre based on Bay Terrace. The Wyn...num Music Centre came to life 7 years ago when Nadine and her husband Dan took a change in their careers. Nadine had a pharmacy background and had to learn everything about musical instruments. Dan was already a musician and loved all sorts of instruments not just playing them, but also repairing and handcrafting the instruments. When they bought the place, it was not nearly a music store which had a big variety of instruments. Guitars, Amps, Drums, Keyboards, Brass & Woodwind and Accessories. Both put their passion in this store to make it what it is today. A lovely shop with an extensive range for every type of music enthusiast. And its not just hardware you can find in the store. Online, youll find experienced music teachers available to help you sound your best. If you have school aged kids, Wynnum music specializes in a variety of instruments and learning books to help hone your childs musical talents. Even youre from outside of Brisbane, their online shop will provide you with all your musical needs. While in her shop, I had chance to see Nadine interacting with her customers. Wow. Every customer walked out with a big smile in there faces. How cool is that? Nice work Nadine & Dan. Nadines talents extend beyond music, she is also a gifted story writer.
