All nominated students displayed consistent PROUD behaviours, with a particular focus on being On-Task and Determined. Special mention to Year 8s who have received the most nominations by far for being On-Task and Determined in Week 3 & 4!

19.01.2022 YEAR 11 CERTIFICATE III IN FITNESS Earlier in the week our Year 11 Certificate III in Fitness CLASS underwent a session conducted by David Ballard. David is currently a strength and conditioning coach for the Brisbane Broncos Elite Player Development. The session focused on speed training and sprint technique. It was great for the students to have access to an industry professional. The students were thoroughly engaged in this session and learnt some valuable coaching and technical lessons. Thanks to David for coming to the school to help out our students.

18.01.2022 Year 8 students have been busy comparing organ systems in different animals this week in Science. 8E had an awesome lesson this afternoon following safe lab practice to observe organ systems in rats. Well done to Jacob who was the only student to fully unravel the large intestine! Did you know our human intestines are so long that they can wrap around the perimeter of a tennis court?!

17.01.2022 PROUD TROPHY Every week this trophy is awarded to a staff member who exemplifies our PROUD mantra. The previous week's recipient of the trophy selects the new recipient for the week. Today's recipient of this award was Melissa Abel. Melissa was awarded this trophy because she puts a lot of effort into her classes and the students are pretty responsive to her. Even on a bad day, Melissa is passionate about getting the best from her students.... Well done Melissa! :-)

16.01.2022 Today we celebrated our PROUD students in Years 7,8 & 9 with the PROUD Student Appreciation Lunch. Our students enjoyed some yummy pizza and wonderful music by some of our Year 11's. The Seniors will be celebrating when we return from holidays. Well done!

The students have had a wonderful week, lead by Mrs Anderson (al...so on loan from Wynnum High). We thank Mrs Anderson for her efforts and enthusiasm. 08.01.2022 STEM OLYMPICS Today we had our Primary School STEM Olympics team event for Years 4, 5 and 6 students. Each group were given four different tasks which required critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration skills. Throughout the day all students improved their team work and got better at communicating with each other. They were building structures, coding, designing and testing their prototypes in order to win gold, silver or bronze medals. ... Well done to all students who participated and thank you to our Year 9 student helpers and teachers who assisted today!

07.01.2022 Recently, some of our Instrumental Music students have been helping with Instrumental Music Workshops at Manly State School. Many of our students were past Manly SS students and were very excited to return and help out.

03.01.2022 OUTSTANDING DIGITAL PEDAGOGY AWARD The winner of the Outstanding Digital Pedagogy Award this fortnight is the very versatile and always helpful Matt Shefford. For a long time Matt has been using a range of digital tools in all of his classes to ensure students are provided with opportunities to reinforce content knowledge, practice critical thinking and to expand their creative skills. This year he has regularly utilised the Adobe Suite of programs, Socrative, Kahoot, Clas...s Notebook and padlet in the classroom. Matt is also our go to person for all things video in the school and is always happy to impart his wisdom to other teachers when they need assistance or want to learn about software programs he is using. Congratulations Matt, your hard work is appreciated!
