22.01.2022 Hi everyone, hope you’re all keeping well - we are missing our softball family! Just a quick update from the management committee regarding our possible season this year. We are hoping to run a short, eight week season commencing 11 July. We are currently liaising with SQI regarding the government requirements in relation to COVID-19 but have been in contact with our clubs and are putting plans in place around things like team numbers for the competition and policies and proc...edures to ensure your health and safety should we be able to go ahead. Your club reps will be able to provide details as we share them when we know more however we wanted to flag this with you all for the time being just so you know we are doing what we can to return to the diamonds safely. Watch this space as more details come to hand!
20.01.2022 Today saw us wrap up our short 8 week winter season. COVID-19 definitely threw us some curveballs but we are grateful to have been able to complete the season - there has been some great competition both during the rounds and of course, today on GF Day. Special thanks to all players and team staff for being a part of the last eight weeks. We appreciate all the work you put into getting teams onto the diamonds and the great spirit in which the games are played. ... To the blues for giving up your Saturdays and officiating our games, thank you for joining us out on the diamond also. Thanks to everyone for their understanding of the current world we live in and filling out contact tracing forms each week, appreciating the rules we had to work with around congregating etc to help us work within our sport COVID safe plan. It’s definitely been a different season without the usual hand shaking, high fives and bar catch ups after games but the main thing is we got to get back out on the diamonds and enjoy the game we love. And now, for the results this year. A huge congratulations to all of the 2020 winners, both team and individual award recipients: Women’s Divison Winners: Giants Red Runners Up: Springwood Player of the Final: Keeana Henare (Giants Red) MVP (based on 3, 2, 1 points each week from the round games): Zali Summers (Giants Red) Men’s Divison Winners: Chiefs Runners Up: Te Arohanui Player of the Final: Michael Voncina (Chiefs) MVP (based on 3, 2, 1 points each week from the round games): Kevin Ray (Giants Red) Congratulations once again to our winners! Thank you again to everyone who has been a part of the season this year. We look forward to welcoming you back next season, hopefully a COVID-free one! Stay safe and well.
19.01.2022 Day 3 - Open Mens State Championships at Redcliffe. Last round game first up against Rocky then see how all the games finish up for placings before finals...
19.01.2022 Morning all You may have seen some new restrictions come into play today following news this morning from QLD Government. Softball is still on - we have a COVID safe plan in place.... This is an very important reminder to please ensure you fill out the contact tracing attendance forms and adhere to social distancing off field. No congregating in groups etc. Please leave the venue after games. Sanitiser is placed around the fields, in dugouts etc so please use this and remember, if you are unwell, please stay home.
19.01.2022 Tippy was presented with Life Membership to Wynnum Softball Association at our AGM tonight. Congratulations Tippy, this is very well deserved. You do so much for our Association and we really appreciate you and all you do (not to mention all the toasties you put so much love into making ) **note there wouldn’t be a photo of this occasion unless we all got in!
16.01.2022 In line with the advice from our governing body, it has been recommended all softball activity be suspended until 30 April 2020 (see link below which has full detail) and based on this, sadly our winter season will not commence as planned on 18 April. Our management committee is meeting this weekend to work out the plan forward and will keep our Clubs updated once we have more details to share with you. Please keep safe and an also keep an eye on our Facebook page (and emails to Clubs) for future updates.
11.01.2022 Hi everyone Please see below an update from Qld Health. As noted, if you have been in any of the locations at the relevant times, please monitor your health and present immediately for testing if experiencing any relevant symptoms.... Please remember to socially distance, wash hands and sanitise. Let’s keep ourselves and each other safe and well.
09.01.2022 Hi all As many of you know, the latest update from Softball QLD, due to the COVID-19 situation, noted the extension of suspension of all softball activities until 31 May, at which time another update will be provided. This means, sadly we won’t be starting our season on 6 June. Our management committee will meet next weekend to discuss our season options post the latest federal COVID-19 update (expected late next week) and work through some scenarios and possible dates/forma...ts in preparation of the next update on 31 May from our governing body, SQI. Hope everyone is staying safe and well.
09.01.2022 Games are still on at this stage today. Showers expected but so far so good!
04.01.2022 The Management committee met today to discuss our 2020 season. At this point in time, we are looking to start on 2nd May (meaning only missing one weekend of our fortnightly games as we were due to start 18/04). Should we need to amend this based on the COVID-19 status, our next option will be to start 6 June with games reverting to weekly fixtures so we can still have a viable competition. We appreciate the current virus status may affect some of our members financially and ...we are very conscious of this and should our season be shortened, team fees will be lowered to help alleviate the stress a little. We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 and the advice from our governing bodies, Softball Australia and Sotball QLD, and keep our clubs and members updated as things change. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates and please contact your club contacts should you have any queries at all. The health of our members and volunteers is front of mind and as much as we are keen to seen everyone back out on the diamonds, we want to ensure we keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.
02.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE - Please read: Further to the recent positive COVID cases in Brisbane, could you please share this information with your members. It is VERY important we do not become complacent - we want to ensure we keep everyone safe and well. Attached is a copy of an email received today from the Department of Sport & Recreation (and approved by Qld Health) re-enforcing Stage 3 restrictions. I especially wish to draw your attention to the following points: ... Any person who has visited affected locations identified by Queensland Health should not attend organised sport, active recreation or fitness activities until further information on the situation comes to hand. These locations can be found here via the contact tracing alerts page: https://www.qld.gov.au//cor/current-status/contact-tracing We have also attached an image of the locations known as at today below in this post for ease of reference. You can also stay up to date with all COVID-19 Queensland Health alerts here: https://www.qld.gov.au//conditions/he/coronavirus-covid-19 A further amendment to the Industry plans has been made in relation to contact information as follows; where a mobile application is used to manage collection of contact information: the club or business validates for itself that the application is able to provide contact information immediately (or at least within the hour on request). We ask you to please not become complacent as we can all see how quickly an outbreak can occur using Victoria, NSW as examples and now in the past 24 hours in Logan/Acacia Ridge areas. These details have also been emailed to our Clubs.
01.01.2022 Unfortunately games are off today due to the rain Draw will be revised to reschedule this weeks games in over the remainder of the season and an updated draw will be sent to clubs during the week. Enjoy your weekend and look forward to seeing you all back next week.
