22.01.2022 5 Photography Mistakes You Need to Avoid When Shooting Seascapes TUTORIAL https://digital-photography-school.com/5-photography-mista/

21.01.2022 THE "CHRISTMAS STAR" IN TONIGHT'S SKY Tonight is a once in a lifetime opportunity for photographers, star gazers and anyone, preferably with a telescope or binoculars, to see Jupiter and Saturn as if they are merging in the night sky, appearing closer to one another than they have since Galileo’s time in the 17th century. Jupiter and Saturn will be just one-tenth of a degree apart from our perspective or about one-fifth the width of a full moon. Despite appearances, Jupiter ...and Saturn will actually be more than 730 million km apart and earth will be 890 million km from Jupiter. Conjunctions between the two largest planets in our solar system aren’t particularly rare as Jupiter passes its neighbour Saturn in their respective laps around the sun every 20 years. However, seeing a close conjunction in a night sky is. Their next super-close pairing will occur on March 15, 2080. Saturn and Jupiter have been drawing closer in the south-southwest sky for weeks. In Australia, the conjunction will be best visible just after 11 pm AEDT on Monday, and there will be just a small window within which to view it. The Perth Observatory states To see the conjunction no matter where you are in the world, you will need to go out in the early evening and if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, you will need to look low in the West and Jupiter will be on the left and Saturn will be on the right at about the 4 o’clock position from Jupiter, You’ll also notice it is being called the "Christmas Star", and that is because as it’s occurring close to Christmas and some astronomers believe that the famous Star of Bethlehem, mentioned in the Bible nativity story, may have been an astronomical conjunction of the planets.

20.01.2022 A CHRISTMAS OR BIRTHDAY PRESENT IDEA The gift of a camera can open up a person to see a world of beauty among the ordinary and express their feelings through photographs. This can be the case particularly for troubled teens (and adults). I will never forget South Australian photographer, Pete Dobre, who spoke at the 2008 Australian Photographic Society Conference in Launceston. He interviewed two troubled teenagers to whom he had given a cheap digital camera. The story fro...m each teen of how a camera changed their lives was compelling to say the least! 'Show and Tell' encourages the use of photography as a mindful practice, teaching 11-18 year olds photography techniques to support mental wellbeing. www.thephotographymovement.com/project/show-and-tell https://au.news.yahoo.com/i-wouldnt-be-here-today-how-the-g https://www.thephotographymovement.com/workshop-films/ Image created by dashu83 - www.freepik.com

19.01.2022 PALOUSE, WASHINGTON STATE A mosaic made up of highlights and shadows often ensures that the eye of its audience will be more inclined to roam as opposed to l...anding on one particular place. Thankfully the shadow behind the small clump of trees was sufficient to pronounce it and lent an anchor of sorts to encourage the viewer to make the clump their first arrival point with a general expanding outwards thereafter. The overnight frost had fortunately provided some blue tinges to play with the warmer yellows, oranges and browns which dominated the scene. There are numerous configurations on offer here in this wonderful region and much pleasure is to be found working with them. The first and last 30 minutes of the day can deliver some thrilling relationships of light and colour. It is quite possibly no secret that I hugely enjoy unraveling the construction of an image. The eye of its audience can often make a favourable or an unfavourable response in as short a time as a second. Others may find being preoccupied with such an exercise deeply boring but I have to admit to likening a photograph to a piece of music where perhaps the melody is immediately found to be pleasing or not. 18.01.2022 ORGIVA, ANDALUSIA, 2015 Generally I would be awaiting a certain quality of light to illuminate at least some of the foreground and off into the distance. I thin...k it would be rare that I would wish for no direct light to fall on the area where I hope to encourage the eye to reside. Here I wanted the reverse, with the background hill to be swamped with hard sunlight, as a fierce contrasty light on the delicate blossom would have been too aggressive. The pink was hardly able to express itself being so subtle and had there been sunlight falling on these branches, then the photograph would have become too picturesque and the dark trunks would have converted to a mid brown. It was important to me for the knobbly 'Y' shapes of the trunks to be pronounced. 14.01.2022 The Rule of Odds states that it’s always best to use an odd number of items in your still life images. If you do this, it prevents the mind from growing bored. ...And it helps the eye move around the frame. Basically, you should make sure that all items in your still life come in odd numbers. *There is one exception to this rule: twos. Two objects grouped together can make for beautiful photos! 02.01.2022 Do you struggle to create unique black and white photography? Start by finding a clear foreground subject. You want to find something that is recognizable. I...deally, it will lead the eye from the foreground to the background. Then get extremely close to the foreground subject, so that it looms large within the frame. Finally, make sure that you compose with a second, smaller subject behind this large foreground subject.
