25.01.2022 Dear Smythesdale & Scarsdale Community Members ! ! The bushfire season is rapidly approaching. Safer Together are seeking community members to form a pilot group to assess and manage risks specific to our area in relation to bushfire management. The aim is to determine what issues locals are worried about and how these issues might be resolved by establishing a community action plan. For example: - Who are the people in our community who are vulnerable? eg. isolated elde...rly persons, and how are they contacted or accounted for in an emergency? - Are there areas of roadside vegetation that could block exits or become hazardous in the event of evacuation? Safer Together is a co-operative approach between the CFA, DELWP (dept Environment Land, Water & Planning) and Emergency Services Victoria. Sally White is our local liaison for Safer Together. Her role is to provide guidance to the group and liaise with other agencies to best solve issues raised. 17.01.2022 PLEASE LET THE GRASS GROW ! ! Work is continuing on our oval's surface. Grass cultivation did not go quite as planned over summer, with various setbacks. Golden Plains Shire Council are working hard to make the surface player-ready, in time for the start of the football season on April 7th. The ground has been re-seeded this week and will undergo intensive watering in the next few weeks. In the meantime, it would be appreciated if people avoid using the oval, so the grass can take. Thankyou for your co-operation.
