World Update I: The Japan world update features an upgraded digital elevation map across the entire country, high-resolution 3D photogrammetry for six prominent Japanese cities (Sendai, Takamatsu, Tokushima, Tokyo, Utsunomiya and Yokohama), and six handcrafted local airports (Hachijojima, Kerama, Kus...hiro, Nagasaki, Shimojishima, and Suwanosejima). 15.01.2022 Good morning XBGD’ers Kotaku’s latest interview with Phil Spencer is an interesting one. In their latest interview he talks about transitioning into the next generation, game file sizes, Halo: Infinite, the Nintendo relationship and even the Bethesda deal. ... The latter being a largely discussed topic on how the acquisition with affect where Bethesda’s upcoming titles will be played. Well one of the interesting statements to come from the interview (and take it how you will) is this: Is it possible to recoup a $US7.5 ($11) billion investment if you don’t sell Elder Scrolls VI on the PlayStation? I asked. Yes, Spencer quickly replied. Then he paused. I don’t want to be flip about that, he added. This deal was not done to take games away from another player base like that. Nowhere in the documentation that we put together was: ‘How do we keep other players from playing these games?’ We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to go play games. But I’ll also say in the model I’m just answering directly the question that you had when I think about where people are going to be playing and the number of devices that we had, and we have xCloud and PC and Game Pass and our console base, I don’t have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to kind of make the deal work for us. Whatever that means. It’s a massive acquisition for Microsoft and an interesting time as we head into the next generation. The interview doesn’t say that these games will be restricted from other platforms either, just that they don’t need to release them outside of the Xbox ecosystem. Things like the discussions on further acquisitions of developers through to the below tweet and the blue of the launch Series S/X controller have led some to believe that something is happening in the Sega / Microsoft space. ... There are rumours flying around everywhere that range from the crazy through to the possible which includes: The Xbox being marketed as the Sega Series X in Japan through to a Microsoft acquisition of the company. Now what we do know is that MS and Sega both have a show at the Tokyo Games Show so, if anything is going to be announced then its likely to be there. 07.01.2022 Chicken Police is a narrative based, point and click adventure game developed by The Wild Gentlemen. Chicken Police is very unique with its noir art style, sense of humour and also its detective interrogation system. The art style of Chicken Police is very quirky with its humanoid animals as the characters and cutscenes that made me forget that I was actually playing a game and not watching a 40’s noir movie. 04.01.2022 Good morning XBGDers Looking for more information on the upcoming Star Wars Squadrons game? Well the team behind the title have put out another pilot briefing to give you a breakdown of all things around ranks, rewards and progression.... The core pillars of Squadrons online experience (outside of the game modes themselves) are Challenges, Operations, and your Level. Within each of these are ways for you to be rewarded with Glory, a currency only earned by playing thats used to unlock cosmetics. Youll also get Experience (XP) while playing from just about everything, allowing you to level up and earn Requisition, the currency used to unlock ship components. Challenges come in the form of daily or longer term operational challenges which the player completes to earn rewards. Operations, think battle pass or equivalent that comes with most games now days where it runs for a set amount of time (8 weeks for this game) and allows you to unlock rewards with progression across the time. Tied into operations are Fleet Ranks that see player skill recognised with a ranking across the 8 week operation. Level which is the over level of the player throughout the life of the game.
