25.01.2022 The team have made some good progress, excited to share a little of our next project Understanding the differences between the early falcon and mustang floors is an essential step towards the final objective of offering IRS solutions to a wide model range. We removed the handbrake cable brackets from a Dynacorn floor we acquired locally, first job was to fab up the crush tube brackets that will be used to bolt the subframe structure to the chassis. ... The front tube has been drawn up ready to be bent and notched, looking forward to setting up the suspension with the coil over mounting inside the subframe to make the installation a truly a bolt in solution. So our next project is old school mustang, the floor came along at the perfect time, we have never thought of building from the floor up but now looks like a realistic option. We learnt with the trial fit of the V1 subframe to the XE we need to run a shorter spindle for a lower mounting point for the upper control arm, with some luck the Mustang project will help tie this all together. Thanks for your interest. #81winning #xdriftindustries #HiTecDrifting #ExtremeStreetPerformance #Porterperformanceandsteering #AustralianContainerUnloadingGroup #RycoFilters #FuchsLubricants #ForcedFordForum #TimsSurfandTurf #ValinoAustralia #isparkelectricalandfire #mattycavmedia

24.01.2022 Here’s a detailed look under our crazy rocket ship, will try to post up a little more detail on the engineering over the coming weeks as we prepare for Winton early May

18.01.2022 Time for qualifying

17.01.2022 Update time, have spent our lockdown time well pushing hard with the mustang project, currently we are focusing on getting the jig set up as accurately as possible. It’s a constant learning curve but it’s all coming together. Another round of drawings are almost ready for laser cutting while we hone and refine our Cad skills. The team busted out for a HiTec Drift practice last weekend, gained valuable seat time and data. So much fun to catch up with our drift family, shout ...out to the whole HiTec crew for making us feel truly welcome. More images and videos in the comments as FB has changed the way we can post. We are preparing for 2021 with a freshen up of the bodywork and a new wrap. Hopefully we can all get used to a new normal and get stuck back into it for a full season. 16.01.2022 Traditionally the cooling system in our falcons has been a strong point, it’s always hot in the Territory so getting this correct is critical for local comps, we will normally see engine temps just over 90degrees C on most competition days regardless of ambient temperature. Engine oil cooling plays a critical role in removing heat from the engine, combined with an effective radiator and fan assembly there’s no reason to overheat. As we have enjoyed a lot of success with the... EF-EL thermo fans we wanted to continue to use this assembly. It took a while to figure out how to install this after market EL shroud to our modified EBay radiator, ended up with a very simple solution that bolts in through the side of the shroud. Sealing the fan shroud means more air through the radiator that translates to lower operating temperatures. We glued some plastic tabs in place on the front of the shroud where it overlaps the radiator. We used a recovery style radiator cap with 2.5ltr overflow bottle, this keeps the cooling system full at all times. The final key is having a robust power supply for the fans, we run 6mm B&S cable to a positive power post close to the fans (less voltage drop) which supplies 3 x 40amp relays fused power, relays are negative switched by the Haltech Elite at a predetermined temperature. We use the the Deutsch DTP connectors to make removal of the shroud quick and fuss free. 14.01.2022 A little post detailing our exhaust system, anyone with a Xseries chassis knows how difficult it is to get the exhaust system high to get maximum ground clearance, with our old car we damaged the dump pipe many times getting hooked up unloading from a trailer and smashing ripple strips, our solution was to pass it through the crossmember #shedbuilt #drift #drifting #xdrift #xdriftindustries #mustang #ford #motorsport #darwin #northernterritory #HiTecDrifting #ExtremeStreet...Performance #Porterperformanceandsteering #AustralianContainerUnloadingGroup #RycoFilters #FuchsLubricants #ForcedFordForum #TimsSurfandTurf #ValinoAustralia #isparkelectricalandfire #mattycavmedia #wisefab See more

13.01.2022 Great interview by Motul with Axsent, Benny’s the guy behind all of our renders, great read

13.01.2022 Danny on his first run of the day. We strapped Tas from Street Machine in for a run. Tas McMillan did the awesome write up & now he's finally met the car in the flesh

11.01.2022 Big send, massive miss haha @speednation Ivica Glavas

11.01.2022 We have thrown together an in-depth YouTube vid for those interested in the technical side of the fabrication and assembly of the V3 rear subframe for the Mustang project. Anyone with an X-Series Falcon or early Mustang, we would love to know what ride height and track width you consider ideal, we would love your feed back, ideally ride height to be measured from the sill panel to the floor. Thanks for your interest ... https://youtu.be/Q17o-EcS0zU

10.01.2022 Check out Zoo Performance, they have a killer product range of performance parts and accessories, big supporter of Australian drifting, hit the like button

09.01.2022 Round 1 Wrap Safely back in Darwin, so good to see our HiTec family and and strap back into our crazy machine, good to see a bumper field for the season opener.... Never quite got my eye in Saturday, coming into the Big M section at Winton we knew it was going to be very technical. We adjusted a little free play from the brake pedal prior to qualifying to stop the brake lights illuminating intermittently as we felt it would impact our qualifying result. Track closed for a oil down as we went to test. Experienced heavy brake lock on the qualifying runs and I was disappointed I attempted the second qualifier with the car un-driveable. Got an early start Sunday, re adjusted the free play at the brake pedal, tuned more grip out and got the first 4 consistent laps down for the weekend. Car felt amazing with the stronger response in the lower rev range. Pitted for new tyres and a little more grip, was feeling the line and could find the aggression, we then took a big hit on the LH rear, the impact destroyed a wheel, damaged a rose joint, toe arm and wheel bearing, bent the upper control arm and smashed of the LHR flare. Was ready to call it, with some encouragement from Allan B. Brad, Willy and Zenek stripped the suspension and Allan and Tony we able to straighten the damaged upper arm, got the alignment as close as possible with a new toe arm and prepared for our first battle with Alex Sciacca. Car felt unsettled through the first segment on the chase then was able to manage reasonable proximity. As we returned to the start shoot I felt an issue with the clutch hydraulics, the car jumping on the line and I lost the clutch as we left the box, I spun on entry to the right handed and that was our day done. Certainly not where we should be at this stage, much to take away from this round, was a disappointing finish to the season opener. We have our work cut out to make The Bend for round two, it’s part of the journey and there are no bad days when your doing what you love. Big thanks to our amazing crew who had the suspension out and in repetitively to get us back out there, thanks to Allan and Tony for their help and the kick in the slats. Regardless of the damage we had another incredible adventure, I spent some time with my son Ashton in Adelaide on the way down, was so good to catch up again with the Cavanagh clan, my old man Terry came out on Saturday who I haven’t seen since 2019 and caught up with my sister Lisa in Canberra last night, just hanging out with all the amazing people involved makes it all so worth it Thank you to all our partners, the best is yet to come. 01.01.2022 Mustang project update. We have focused on a new upright over the last weeks, using the current mustang wheel bearing hub and brakes we sketched out the key points and set about fabricating our first prototype. Later down the track we will look at a billet or possibly cast aluminium upright but for now steel gives us flexibility to make running changes. ... The upper pivot for the upright has been dropped 50mm so we can mount the inner upper control arms lower on the subframe to give greater chassis clearance with less angle to make the upper arm as strong as possible. The lower section of the subframe has been drawn up ready to be bent and notched.
