25.01.2022 Did you know that you don’t need to be young, flexible, fit, a dancer or have done dance before to do Xtend Barre? Most of the members at Xtend Barre Osborne Park are not dancers and never have been. Xtend Barre simply uses the principles of ballet and dance training to give you amazing results (because even if we are not dancers, those ‘dance body’ goals are achievable). The majority of our members are in their 40s/50s, some are pregnant, many have kids, some have injuries..., others are fighting fit warriors who we see in here every day, and they all come in many shapes and sizes. But most importantly each and every one of our members is awesome (if we do say so ourselves) and all working towards their own personal goals to improve their mind, body and soul. 17.01.2022 Can anyone spot anything wrong with our instructor Beth's form in this image? It's only slight but you can see that she has a lean to one side. Beth has scoliosis and has found that Xtend Barre is one of the only forms of exercise she feels comfortable doing without causing back pain PLUS it strengthens her core and back to improve her functional strength. 10.01.2022 WHY THE SMALL WEIGHTS?! One of the biggest things we hear from new clients is they were shocked how much 0.5kg hand weights worked them. Don’t get us wrong, they don’t look like much! However, at Xtend Barre we tend to work ‘endurance’, meaning we will use these hand weights for 10-15 minutes without a break! ... More and more evidence is being gathered about the positives of light weight, high rep training. Gone are the days of having to lift 15kg in the gym to get toned arms! One of our biggest worries from new clients is they’re worried they will develop ‘bulky’ muscle but there is no worry about this with our Xtend Barre method, as these light weights create long lean muscles. 07.01.2022 We would like to welcome our newest XBOP Dance Cardio Instructor Nadia!! Nadia started dancing from the age of 3. Ballet was the start of it all and as she got older she extended into Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Acro, Hip Hop and Ballroom and Latin. Sports was also a big part of Nadia's teenage life. One of her first jobs as a teenager was teaching young kids Gymnastics and throughout highschool, she competed in Athletics, Netball, swimming and even trampolining! She had alw...ays dreamed of becoming a dance or sports teacher, but ended up in the corporate world. The Jungle Body made that dream a reality for her back in 2012 where she qualified as an instructor whilst living in Dublin, Ireland and became one of the first international instructors. She returned to Perth in December 2019, and continued to instruct a class of her own, along with developing her own personal passion for Gym Training! Nadia's aim is to give her class an overall Cardio and Toning workout whilst having Fun at the same time! Push ups: build upper body strength increase functional strength as the whole body activates - biceps, core, triceps, shoulders all work while your lower body and abs support you When done correctly they protect your shoulders from injury improve posture and prevent lower back injuries (if performed correctly)... To make the most of these great benefits we need to perform them correctly and safely. Here’s our top 3 tips: aim to keep hands under and slightly wider than your shoulders - if you have your arms out in front you will destabilize the shoulder joint and not get the most out of the chest aim to keep your shoulders hips and knees lowering and lifting in one straight line by leading with the chest, keeping the abs pulled in and up, and bum/hips slightly tucked/scooped keep your gaze or eye line about 20cm in front of your finger tips especially at the bottom of the push up to avoid leading with your chin or working your neck @xtendbarreaustralia @beth_knows_barre #xtendbarre #xbop #pushups #perthfitness #perthbarre
