24.01.2022 This week Yacht Lab installed these custom built Stainless Steel access stairs to the Solaris 50s berth at the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron. The stairs allow easy access at gunnel height through a gate in the lifelines. A bit of extra effort went into embedding the logo into the nonskid on the hardwood treads, but well worth it! We also installed our latest Fibreglass Dock Box which are made in house, to order and available now. 24.01.2022 Currently at Yacht Lab we have a couple of 2Pac resprays going on, a very original Noelex 25 and a completely rebuilt Gannet. The brief from Foxys owner is to have her looking like when she left the factory some 40 years ago (going back to the original colour scheme supplied from Awlgrip and The Boat Paint Guy), new windows and gunwale strip as well as a tidy up on the interior. The Gannet has been tediously restored by her owners and is in for a respray of the hull and deck giving this old boat a new lease on life. Noelex Yacht Association of Australia

23.01.2022 Yacht Lab spent a few days this week fixing up a fleet of well used training Pacers. As training boats often do they were covered in battle scars and were in need of multiple repairs, a few new fittings and a good wash and polish. We finished off the week by installing some new Pro Fender fenders onto a berth at the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron. With a beautiful yacht due to be berthed there soon this will take the fuss out of parking and help keep her looking great! 18.01.2022 A few weeks ago the Star project we worked on last year left our shed for her long awaited fit out. A bunch of jobs have been completed since we posted on this project last. We positioned the custom barney post and glassed it in, mounted hidden cleats behind the coaming for control lines, built custom foot chocks to run lines down the centre line of the boat, built custom trailer splashes offering a bigger surface area to support the hull and too many other jobs to mention. ...At least the owner will have plenty to do amidst these challenging times! 17.01.2022 A pick up and delivery this week by Yacht Lab for a Flying Fifteen that had a run in with a rock wall down at Christies Sailing Club last weekend. Even though she had a couple of fractures and had taken on water, she was in and out in no time and ready for this weekends racing. Yacht Lab dropped the mast, removed the rudder, towed the boat back to our workshop and returned it ready to roll!... Also some custom carbon brackets and mounting pads for a set of sheet retrieval drums for a local TP52 went out the door this week. 11.01.2022 Yacht Lab spent the week preparing a few boats for the coming summer a head. Summer Jewel received a gunwale up machine wax including cockpit and boom. The teak was given a good clean, then the entire boat was given a complete detail from head to toe. She came up as good as new and was back looking sharp! Yacht Lab added some run off deflectors to keep the Solaris 50 looking her best. The idea is stop the water that runs down the rod rigging running over th...e hull. Now the water will drip off of the deflector instead of leaving stains on the deep blue paintwork aiding in keeping Summer Jewel looking her best year round. 02.01.2022 Late last year Yacht Lab was approached to build an Australian Lightweight Sharpie for a client who had acquired a set of moulds that hadnt had a boat built from it in years. The boat was an experiment guided by some great people, for a great client and for a great class! Throw in the added challenge of getting the boat ready for the Perth Nationals which was 33 days away and we had a bit on! The end result was great, she was on minimum weight and performed well, regularly... sitting in the top 10. A great result considering the boat only went for its maiden sail the morning of Race 1! Thanks to Rod allen, Marc Ablett, Luke Stephens and his dad, Jon Emonson, RopeCo. South Australia, Alex Blacker, Harry Fisher and Down Under Sail, Steve Eitzen, James Lucas and Heinz Lefrank for all your help over the build. Also thanks to the SA Sharpie class measurers past and present who measured the boat last minute and helped with measurement advice and to the Australian Sharpie Class in general for their support and positivity to the project. We are hoping to have the boat out at the next edition of the SA Sharpie State Champs next week.
