15.01.2022 Jon Sanders Transits the Panama Canal. Jon has completed another major milestone of his 11th Solo Circumnavigation, his transit of the Panama Canal from the cit...y of Colon in the Caribbean to Balboa, Panama City on the Pacific side. Jon was assisted by Liz Back, the Australian Consul in Panama who provided her family members as safe line handlers for the canal transit. Perie Banou II was rafted up alongside Wildcat, skippered by Jons friend Paul Stratfold. Pauls assistance in St Maarten and during the lead-up to the canal transit has been greatly appreciated. Perie Banou II exited the last of the Cocoli Locks around 7am this morning Perth time. He is now tied to a mooring ball outside Balboa while he readies Perie Banou II for his 38 day (approx) passage to Tahiti. Jon will depart Balboa on Friday after he has topped up his fuel and water supplies and will then sail onto Tahiti.
