23.01.2022 Notes from Yackandandah Chamber of Commerce Committee Meeting Monday 3 June 2019 5-6.20pm Attended: Nicholas Rogan, Helen McGowan, Lindy Smith-Allen, Jacq Baynes Action:... 1. Nicholas and Jacq to meet with Indigo Shire about options/interest in Breakfast club. This may lead to discussions with Seb, Rusty Bike and top pub. 2. Jacq to confirm Star is available to host Chamber social event on Friday 19 July 2019 5.30-6.30pm. 3. Jacq to advise re budget for food / drink for the event (20-50 people) 4. Nicholas to design flyer to promote event Chamber social event, and we are all to promote via Social Media and personal invitation. Consider flyer distribution. Consider having an RSVP to define numbers/budget. 5. At next meeting (Monday 1 July 2019) we to develop running sheet for the event. 6. Helen to develop annual budget for YCC based on past expenditure. 7. Jacq to give details to Hume Bank so that she can be a signatory if needed. 8. Next Meeting Monday 1 July 2019 5pm Discussion Governance: Jacq keen to promote what we stand for and to let others know (‘connecting our business community’). Suggested we need a social event. Decided to have a Friday evening gathering on Friday 19 July 2019 5.30-6.30pm. We can welcome people and share what the Chamber is doing (show and tell, working groups, invitation to get involved). Jacq also suggested a visual ‘tree’ representation of clusters of local businesses/services which are relevant to visitors/residents. Nicholas is working on a database/data form to collect this information. Decided to allow all businesses to be ‘affiliated/associated’ with the chamber, and ‘real members’ who pay membership fee. Also need to finalise signatories on the Hume Bank Account and prepare annual budget. Streetscape: Lindy and Nancy Sluga met with Chris Zerbst (garden club) and representative from the op shop, to discuss shared interest in the Yack streetscape. The issues are: the ongoing care of the wicking garden tubs (Garden club to develop a guide for retailers to care for the wicking tubs) the placement of the bicycle racks which are commissioned to Ben Gilbert, (community meeting on 11 June 2019) the use of promotional ‘flags’ outside businesses (just do it until told not to) the development of pedestrian crossings to make it safer to cross the road (raised in the LoveYack forums) Breakfast Club: Jac and Nicholas will discern if the Indigo Shire Council have an interest in working with us to support local businesses to provide breakfast. Professional Services: Helen and Nicholas met with Suzanne McIntosh and Luke to explore what it would take to develop a local referral network. Consider ‘Boomerang Bucks’ or ‘Shop local’ discount to encourage local referrals. Consider ‘clustering’ services around a particular event (conveyancing, parenting, business) Meeting ended 6.20pm

22.01.2022 Upcoming event 11 MAR 6pm @ Avenue: Business networking opportunity to discuss ways of building financial resilience.

10.01.2022 Has your business been affected by the 2019 / 2020 bushfires? Indigo Shire has created this survey to capture the economic disruption to our region: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DQ9WJDR We encourage you to take the time to provide details on how the bushfires have directly or indirectly disrupted your revenue and business operations.... While the economic disruption may be self evident to many business owners, any state and federal relief, grants, or aid may be insufficient if they do not receive data to illustrate the need for support. This survey helps Indigo Shire to capture the data, and build a case for our local businesses.
