25.01.2022 Another plan showing Louis Stephens' property on the corner of Wellsford Street and Melbourne Lane. Note the old gold workings between Louis and the Yackandandah Creek, and the 'pig stye' at the back of a property on Windham Street.

20.01.2022 This is a story about Harold Ashworth when he was first starting out in his fuel business as an independent Neptune Agent in the late 50’s in Staghorn Flat. He... didn’t find it easy at first, he really struggled and nearly gave up. This letter tells you the story of his struggle and competition with another Agent. Eventually things turned around for him and his wife Shirl in the early 60’s. His business got that busy that he opened up a Fuel Depot in the early 70’s in Wodonga where Aldonga Engineering is today. This is a letter that was probably typed up in the 60’s, it was Harold telling his story. The old Neptune Depot shed is still standing beside the old shop today at Staghorn Flat. See more

11.01.2022 It's #FurryFriendFriday - and here is another pooch from the past, enjoying a picnic out with the McKay family at the Homeward Bound mine. Some names we have attached to this photo include Longstaff, Mckay, Charles & Smith.

09.01.2022 Folks have known what a wonderful part of the world Yackandandah is for a long time....even John Darbyshire, one of many surveyors to travel around these parts, noted "beautiful land" in his survey book in 1862.

08.01.2022 It's #FurryFriendFriday again. This week finds us on a picnic at the "Log cabin hotel", as noted on the back of this photo. Location - Twists Creek.

08.01.2022 An old plan showing a tannery positioned between what is now Bowles Lane and McIntosh Lane c.1898. The detail is great - 'foot track', location of gardens, course of water.

05.01.2022 It's #FurryFriendFriday! This wagon says "F. Robinson, Butcher" so we can only assume this is Fred Robinson, local butcher, who is (not surprisingly) a favourite of the four legged locals.

05.01.2022 Another aerial view of the town, this one from our collection. What can you see? What can't you see? Can any Facebook detectives hazard a guess at the year this was taken?

05.01.2022 As John Darbyshire surveyed the Yackandandah Creek in 1862 he passed through the diggings and noted other details in his drawings - a hut sitting creek side, and an island in creek.

02.01.2022 There were eyes in the sky in the 1940s - with large areas of Victorian photographed during an extensive aerial survey. Here are two aerial photos of Yackandandah and surrounds taken in 1946. Resolution isn't great - probably OK for 1940s standards though! Want to explore these maps yourself?
