21.01.2022 #Farewell #SteveAndEstella #AjurumuStoreManagers #GoodLuck Today many Warruwi residents went to the store for lunch, and to say farewell to Steve, Estella and family. They will be flying out Friday morning and Mick and Tracy will be taking over as store managers.... Steve, Estella and their 3 boys have been at Warruwi for almost 3 years, and made many friends here. The older lads have also been working at the school and health centre, so they will be missed by many. Several elders and representatives gave short speeches and then given gifts by their work team, Yagbani and others of local artworks, to take with them to remember us here at Warruwi. We wish them all well for the future and in their new adventures. The family were told by the elders they are welcome to return for work or to visit ... and we hope they do.

19.01.2022 #Centerlink #CDP #Payments #Update On Friday, $ support to unemployed Australians will be dramatically reduced. In April, the new Coronavirus Supplement roughly doubled the level of benefits for unemployed people on the "JobSeeker" payments. ... The supplement will drop from $550 to $250 a fortnight from Friday. The new rates of the "JobKeeper" payment in this extension period are: Tier 1: $1,200 per fortnight (before tax) *Those working 20+ hours a week (80/month) Tier 2: $750 per fortnight (before tax). *Others/those working less than 20 hours a week. If you are on Job Keep or Job Seeker, your income will be dropping, so make sure to plan ahead. Toni cork from HK Training and Employment is at Warruwi this week, in the Mardbalk Meeting Room. If you need help with budgeting and finances... Pop in and say hello and chat with Toni.

16.01.2022 #MarketGarden #Update #Warruwi #Hydroponics #CDPsuccess The hydroponics set-up in one of the shadehouses is finished, and the seedlings planted are booming!. Garden manager Aran showed our Chairperson, Bunug Galaminda around the garden, who was stunned to see all the varieties of plants and different strains all growing so well.... We love that some of the locally grown fruit, vegetables and herbs are used in the SNP kitchen, in the student lunches.

12.01.2022 #Oldman #FuneralCeremony #Warruwi #FinalDay #RIP #Farwell 17.11.2020 Today was the final day of the funeral, and the burial of the Maung Old Man as the sun went down. Our thoughts are with his family and friends tonight. He was a inspirational man and was loved by all. He was laid to rest next to his younger brother, who sadly the previous funeral ceremony was held for. May he and his brother rest in peace.... There are a few videos to follow in seperate posts. 10.01.2022 #NOTICE #PhonesAndInternetDown Telstra lines have been down, apparently throughout Arnhemland, the past 24 hrs. Hopefully it will now stay on, but if you have not been able to get in contact with anyone at Warruwi, this is why. Have a great weekend.

07.01.2022 #SchoolNutritionKitchen #SNP #GreatFoodForWarruwiStudents #CDPsuccess As always, the SNP kitchen is making some great healthy food for the Warruwi Community School students. Yagbani's kitchen manager Rhoda was away for a couple days this week, and Brenda and Lucy were up there giving Daisy and Lorraine a helping hand to get the school lunches out.

07.01.2022 Congratulations Lawrence Costa MLA: Member for Arafura congratulations for your win in the NT elections. Wishing you and Michael Gunner, the re-elected Chief Minister, continued success within your second term. From the Warruwi community mob.

06.01.2022 #FisheriesNT #Aquaculture #OysterFarm #DarwinAquacultureCentre #Warruwi Sorry, we are a bit behind in posting any photos lately, there has been so much going on!! ... but we do have some photos from last month for you, and will put some into a couple of posts. ... Last week Aiden and Mitch from Fisheries NT were at Warruwi working with Brando and Elroy at the oyster farm. They were sorting the baby spat and recording the oyster growth for the CRCNA Tropical Oyster research program. A couple of weeks prior, Brando was excited to spend some time at the Darwin Aquaculture Centre at Channel Island in Darwin, where he discussed the research program and direction we are heading with the team at DAC. He was keen to check out the new room currently being specific built for breeding/spawning the oyster spat. Yagbani CEO, Steve and Brando also spent a couple of days with Abbie and Kristy at the KPMG Darwin office, where they are working on a strategic and business plan for the oyster farm and the commercialisation planning of our #ArafuraOysters.

05.01.2022 We have new signs going up at the airstrip. As we are a closed community, please make sure If you are inviting people to the Island for work or to visit (people who don't live here) they should have a NLC permit.... It is important the Traditional Owners know who is coming to the Island, and have given permission.

02.01.2022 It's not every day we get a plane land on our mudflats at Warruwi! Yesterday a small Cessna from Gunbalanya Air made an emergency landing on the edge of the mangroves. We all thought it would be stuck there forever, but today after mechanical inspection, the pilot managed to fly it out without issue.
