23.01.2022 Slip casting workshop day 2: today the creativity came through with artist learning how to mix various gradients of slip colours which are then applied as designs. The waiting process is a little more lengthy but well worth the wait.
22.01.2022 Working in small NGO’s requires some ingenuity at times...don’t have the right equipment on hand...emprovise! Wet Wipes and cardboard boxes work just fine

21.01.2022 This discussion, along with many others across various sectors, continues. Why are existing and long term established Indigenous organisations/institutions/business never supported to 1) build capacity or 2) expand their human and physical resources in order to continue delivering what they do? Why do certain agencies always want to start all over again and support Non-Indigenous systems?
20.01.2022 Today was another busy day for the staff and artist down at Yamaji Art. We commenced a three day slip casting workshop with ceramics artist Sandra Black. 15.01.2022 Thank you to the Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of Western Australia (AACHWA) for visiting our centre to deliver important systems and arts training to our artists staff and board members. The training seen artist engaged in lots of creative discussions around their journey as artist. Including best practices when creating art work as well as how to present and promote themselves as artist for maximum exposure and outcome. The training surely ignited the creative thinking as it... lead to an impromptu workshop! What better way to put learning into practice Thank you to all those who attended and to the facilitators Emilia Galatis and Chad Creighton. Aboriginal Art Centre Hub Western Australia

02.01.2022 Hot off the production table! New Works "My Country and Waterholes" by Gemma Merritt "In Yamaji Country we have many ways of finding water. Even during summer time when it looks dry with the right knowledge handed down from our elders we are still able to find water. This painting shows the dry colours of country during summer time but also the waterholes that lay beneath the surface".
