22.01.2022 Who's grabbed their ticket for our next networking event? Our next meeting on the 13th of October will include a few extras.. This time, we have organised a meal (or 2 if you want) to be pre- purchased with your ticket so you can enjoy a meal of your choice while networking and connecting with other businesses. ... Also, a guest speaker from the Sunshine Coast Business Alliance Business mentoring program who will discuss things such as marketing and communications and how their volunteer run programs can assist you. The General meeting will be conducted followed by the AGM where our new Committee members will be voted in and introduced. We are looking for some fresh faces in the chamber and will be looking to complete a few sub committee's to help share the load. Having a business is a tough enough gig to balance with life, so we understand the need to be able to help in your own capacity. 08.01.2022 What an amazing day in Yandina! We had our traditional land owners present for the celebration of our 150 years as a gazetted town. Mayor Mark Jamieson was also there with Council David Law and MP Marty Hunt. Thank you so much to all of you for attending and being present with us. A big thank you to everyone involved for organising such a beautiful event, there was so many people sharing the love for our town all in one spot! (obviously covid safe spaced!) ... 05.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW... Do you know how the beautiful Yandina Historic House came about? "Yandina Historic House was built in 1899 -1900 at Bridges approximately two kilometres north of Yandina, by pioneer John Gustave Sommer for his family home. His wife Fredericka (Rikka) named it Tillstead after her birthplace in Denmark.... The house changed hands six times being owned in turn by John Sommerville, Thomas Arthur Graham, Joan Sharp, George Sharpe, Katherine Rose Somerset and finally in 1923, Benjamin Morgan Williams. By this time the name of the house had changed to Kenaldare. Three generations of the Williams family lived here with son Rhys and his wife Margaret holding their wedding reception at Kenaldare in 1978. In 1996, Main Roads resumed the property to make way for the new Bruce Highway and the house was relocated to its present site. The Maroochy Shire Council had the house restored with the help of SkillCentred. The Yandina & District Historical Society Inc. took over the lease of the house in November 2003 naming the house Yandina Historic House and recognising previous owners on a plaque and historical displays.
