21.01.2022 Join 'Fox' an 8mth old Cobber dog on his journey of social exposure. He is a fun loving eager to please pup with heaps of potential but needs to gain confidence... in the outside world. This video is of Fox's first outing with me, notice his fear signals of standing on three legs, tail tucked between his legs and refusing food. Understanding his state of mind is important with dogs like Fox as pushing him too far could be detrimental to him ever becoming confident or even cause him to become defensive and highly stressed. Well done Fox for taking it all in and I can't wait to show you how much fun the world can be........

19.01.2022 UPDATE DIAMOND VALLEY KENNELS APPLICATION FOR A BRAND NEW PUPPY FARM AT 2312 STEVE IRWIN WAY, LANDSBOROUGH Diamond Valley Kennels currently have existing la...wful use rights to keep a maximum of THIRTY (30) breeding dogs on their property in Diamond Valley. If you pay any attention to the huge number of puppies that DVK advertise for sale, you will realise that they sell far more puppies than even 30 female breeding dogs could produce. They are able to do this by holding an even larger number of breeding dogs hostage at their Dubbo hellhole, impregnating the mothers then taking their babies and transporting them up to the beautiful property/shopfront on the Sunshine Coast and advertising them for sale. In November 2018, Diamond Valley Kennels lodged an application with Sunshine Coast Council for a brand new puppy farm on Steve Irwin Way, Landsborough. They were hoping to build another puppy farm which would hold up to 100 dogs, as well as a boarding facility for another 200 dogs. As the property is on a designated main road, DVK had to submit their application to the State Government’s Department of Transport & Main Roads (DTMR). DTMR had concerns about the impact the new puppy farm and boarding facility would have on the main road, and they asked for an analysis of the site access / Steve Irwin Way intersection and the influenced intersection of Camp Koongamoon Environment and Recreation Centre access / Steve Irwin Way. Note: consideration is to be given to the proximity of these two intersections, the assessment must ensure that any intensification of use does not create a safety hazard for the intersections as a whole. Ideally, DTMR would want access to the property to be via the local road, being Amigh Road. This road is not a properly formed/sealed road, so DVK would need to make very expensive upgrades to the road to use it to access the site. Similarly, DTMR were intending to ask DVK to carry out expensive upgrades to Steve Irwin Way & intersections. DVK’s consultants have now submitted their response to the Department of Transport & Main Roads. To overcome the need for expensive upgrades, DVK’s consultants have come up with a creative way around this hurdle. In their response, they have advised: access is proposed to be retained to Steve Irwin Way, amendments to the proposal have occurred to ensure the safety and operational efficiency has been retained and remain consistent with the requirements of the SDAP. As a result, the following key amendments have occurred to the proposal: - Staging of development, to allow Stage 1 to consist of the breeding component only, and Stage 2 to consist of the boarding component; and, - The capacity of Stage 1 is to be reduced in scale to permit 40x pens, and 60x breeding dogs. Their response continues to by conditioning Stage 1 to the above vehicle limitations, this would ensure that Stage 1 would not be increasing any additional traffic movements to the State-Controlled Road network, than what would be lawful under the site’s available land use rights. Upon the delivery of Stage 2, upgrades to the site’s intersection with Steve Irwin Way would be required, as further detailed within the attached Traffic Engineering Report prepared by Hayes Traffic Engineering. Upon the completion of these upgrades, then the full extent of the development is understood to achieve compliance with the necessary SDAP modules. --- If you’re still reading thank you! The main points are: - DVK are now delaying the proposed boarding kennel () for 200 dogs by amending the application and putting the boarding kennels in Stage 2; - They’re now planning to reduce the number of breeding dogs from 100 to only 60; - Their response refers to Stage 2 so we believe that they are still intending to ultimately seek approval for the 300 dogs it’s just convoluted by the staging proposal; - Approval of new puppy farm at the new address does not cancel their current approval for 30 breeding dogs at the Diamond Valley property Once they have approval to open a breeding facility on Steve Irwin Way, it’s all over. We need to fight this with EVERYTHING that we have WHERE TO FROM HERE? The Sunshine Coast Council election is being held on 28 March this year. We are in the process of drafting a list of questions about the proposed puppy farm these questions will be sent to ALL candidates (Mayor and Councillors). We will be seeking election commitments from them, and we will be publishing their responses so you know how the person you’re voting for feels about animal welfare and puppy farming, as well as whether or not they will vote to approve or refuse the current application. The public notification stage will commence shortly after the applicant finally responds to Council’s information request. This stage is when submissions are open to be received by Council. Our planning consultants have prepared a draft submission, which is currently being amended to address the revised proposal. Once the submission is finalised, it will be made available for each and every one of you to submit to Sunshine Coast Council. 19.01.2022 It's important during this time of home isolation to provide your dogs with their own isolation away from you throughout the day. You can do this by putting them outside and closing the door or use a crate or play pen. Moby and Keisha having their doggy isolation time

18.01.2022 What Curiosity Does To A Cat.. Spunky 4year old Bubba may just have used one of his 9 lives...he is recovering from a life-threatening situation after we discovered he swallowed an object that blocked his intestines. It seems he has had a bit of a tummy upset for quite awhile and it is likely the object was rolling around in his stomach for a few weeks before it finally caused the blockage. Needless to say the stomach acid has been at work and we can't determine what the original object was...if only our pets could talk!!!

16.01.2022 On this Anzac Day, we don’t just remember our brave service men and women. Let’s also honour the hundreds of thousands of horses, dogs, donkeys, mules and pigeo...ns that selflessly sacrificed their own lives in battles they’ll never be able to comprehend. For example, of the 136,000 horses sent off to World War One, only one ever made it home to Australia. These animals have given so much. Not just on the battlefield but also as comfort and support for our soldiers at their most difficult times. Lest We Forget.

15.01.2022 So you think the only good snake is a dead snake? Well this snake is a great snake to have around. The non venomous Keelback is commonly found in the Whitsunday... area and is the only snake in Australia that can and does eat cane toads. Unfortunately it is often killed as it is usually brown in colour and therefore to many must be a "Brown Snake" or a "Taipan". Thanks to Elliot Budd from the Townsville Snake Catchers page for the awesome photo. For more information on our local snakes join the SnakeoftheWhitsundays facebook group. See more

11.01.2022 This is Ola. She was purchased from Diamond Valley Kennels on 15 December 2019 by a local Sunshine Coast family. On 17 December 2019, Ola’s owner took her the v...et for her second vaccination her first vaccinations were done on 20 November 2019. As luck would have it, Ola’s new owner took her to Landsborough & Glass House Vet Surgeries, the same business that DVK uses. At the consultation, Ola’s new owner was informed that she now has Grade 2 Bilateral Luxating Patellas. Turns out, when DVK took Ola to the vet for her first vaccinations on 20 November 2019, she was diagnosed with Grade 1 Bilateral Luxating Patellas. 25 days later, Diamond Valley Kennels sold Ola - without informing the new owner of the Bilateral Luxating Patellas diagnoses. Her family has now taken Ola to an Orthopedic Specialist vet. In the future, she is likely to require expensive surgery on both knees, with a long recovery. The owner contacted DVK who offered for them to return Ola and collect a different puppy. This offer was declined, as Ola’s family was already very attached to her, and were not comfortable with what would happen to her if she was returned to DVK, for obvious reasons. DVK then offered Ola’s family $1,000 - IF they delete their Google Review and all social media posts about Ola’s story. Diamond Valley Kennels should have made Ola’s owners aware of this hereditary congenital condition prior to purchase. Diamond Valley Kennels should be supporting Ola’s family as they have committed to providing Ola with the best possible treatment for Ola to enable her to live a long and happy life. This is simply not good enough. If you have purchased a puppy from DVK and he/she has/had luxating patellas, we strongly encourage you to ring Landsborough & Glass House Vets on 5494 1337 to confirm if they diagnosed the condition prior to your purchase.

09.01.2022 YOUR NEXT GREENIES DEAL - DAY 6 OF 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS!

09.01.2022 Have you heard about Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome (LPS)? It's a viral disease spreading through lorikeet populations in SEQ and northern NSW. The virus cannot ...be transferred to humans, but it causes a very slow and terrifying death for these beautiful little birds. From another notice board. Today I found a Lorikeet with categorey 4 LPS, lying helpless next to the pathway to UQ. This poor little guy would have had so many staff and students walk right past him. We waited together for 1.5 hrs whilst RSPCA came to pick him up. Once he warmed up he started to chirp and move around so I had more hope. There are carers and wildlife vets in SEQ rehabitating birds with LPS. They still don't know why this seasonal disease is so ramped this year. If you see a dopey Lorikeet on the ground, please call a carer, RSPCA or take it to the vet. It's not fair to leave them on the ground, potentially freeze to death or be eaten. 05.01.2022 On my travels in this extremely hot weather I see alot of Dogs being walked on hot pavement or sand. An easy method to test the ground for your dog is place the palm of your hand on the ground and if you can't keep contact for 5 seconds it is too hot for your dogs pads.

01.01.2022 Harley needs a forever home! Some of you may have had the pleasure of meeting or even working with Harley over the past month whilst she has been with me for re...training. She is a lovely 2.5yr old female Labrador, great with other dogs loves going out on adventures but happy enough to sit at a coffee shop and watch the world go by. She needs someone who will continue her training and wants a loyal companion. I would prefer she goes to a single dog home. Please PM me if you are genuinely interested no messages will be replied to in this feed. See more
