24.01.2022 A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our annual Quiz Night last night! Competition was tight amongst the teams with a tie for first place decided by a Super Question. Where else do you actually win a door for the door prize? A big thank you to all the sponsors who willingly provide prizes whenever asked. A signed Crows jumper which was auctioned boosted funds raised from the night very substantially. See you all again next year!
23.01.2022 Scouts are coming to Yankalilla soon!

21.01.2022 One of my more pleasant duties whilst on Kangaroo Island was representing DG Norm in presenting two thermal imaging cameras to the CFS Chief on KI, Terry May. ... These cameras are two of the thirteen purchased on behalf of the district with the part funding coming from $15,000 from the Lucindale Club and a huge thanks to Lion Peter Corrigan and the Barker trailer company. The remaining $15,000 came from a Lions ALF grant submitted by me on behalf of the District. These cameras are capable of identifying 'hot spots' in bushfire situations aiding firefighters to better combat fires. DG Norm will be distributing the remaining units to both our Zone and the Adelaide Hills areas in the near future. See more
20.01.2022 A busy June dinner meeting where we welcomed our new member Brenda who was sponsored by Lion Jackie and inducted by Zone Chair Melinda. Laura & Christy from the Cape Jervis Progress Association were our guest speakers and told us about their plans for improving the facilities in Cape Jervis for locals & tourists alike. Members were very impressed with the plans and also their passion and enthusiasm. President Michael made a surprise presentation to them of a cheque for $6,540 for a swing as part of their planned upgrade of the playground and we look forward to perhaps helping them out more in the future as the projects develop.
15.01.2022 Some of our club members are involved with us project too so if you have any items listed to donate, please message us to arrange pickup.
14.01.2022 Only 17 sleeps until the Come & Try Scouts Day! Go to our Event page to find out more: https://fb.me/e/1EfCrqPbL
12.01.2022 For those Lions who are unaware, Lions Australia have joined in partnership with the Disaster Relief Australia (formerly Team Rubicon) as a Category B Project. ... DRA is essentially a group of returned service personnel who volunteer their time in assisting communities recovering from catastrophic events such as the KI Fires. There is currently a Team on the Island targeting about 20 to 30 farms and properties that need help. It was great for Margie to get to meet a couple of members of the Team and chat with them about their role and involvement with Lions. We were shown thru their 'digs' which is the change rooms of the Gosse Football Club, and all that remains are the fire ripped. through the area. They are certainly not living in luxury. And attached is a photo of what remains of the playground which DRA are planning to pull down today. It was also nice to catch up with DRA member, Emily, at the Parndana Show. See more
07.01.2022 An interesting stage make up workshop to be held in Yankalilla for 9-18 year olds. Register here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/stage-make-up-tickets-12675
03.01.2022 Dr Sally Tideman, a Consultant GP at ECH Inc, was the guest speaker at our dinner meeting on Monday night. ECH provides support for people to live independently and age well. A scary statistic that by end of the century there will be more than 12m people over 65 in Australia! Sally job shares with another GP in a trial program to carry out home visits as a preventative measure to support people in their own homes. The aims of the program are to reduce the number of hospital admissions, get people out of hospital quicker and provide palliative care support if required. Our dinner meetings are held on the first Monday of the month. If you would like to come along to find out more about Lions and what we do, please get in touch. We are sure you won’t regret it!
01.01.2022 We can't guarantee that these goodies will be available on our cake stall tomorrow at the Lions Book Shed in Normanville from 9:30am to 1:00pm but we are sure whatever the selection is, it will be yummy! As well, there will be a BBQ and a stall selling custom-made wooden children's toys. Come along and enjoy a traditional Lions BBQ, buy some dessert at the cake stall and do some Christmas shopping for the little people in your life! All profits made go to support community projects.
