20.01.2022 Sharing a news report from the ABC. 18 July 2020 We care about our patients, many of whom are from Chinese or Asian background. Our doctor and staff are also of Chinese background. Racism against people of Chinese or Asian background really matters, and we continue to urge our government and media to do more to stop racially-motivated behavior against people of Chinese or Asian background. Afterall, we all embrace the Australian value of giving everyone a fair go.... Professional bullying against doctors of Asian background is also a grave concern as it deprives patients of Asian background their choice to see their culturally understanding doctor. Say no to racism. Excerpts from the ABC News: China is attacking Australia over racism but ordinary people are getting stuck in the middle by Iris Zhao, Erin Handley and Michael Walsh Jieh-Yung Lo, director of ANU Centre for Asian-Australian Leadership, said "Every time when tensions rise between Australia and China, Chinese-Australians get caught in the middle. We're the collateral damage." He said the threat of being labelled a CCP propaganda tool should not silence those calling out racism, and that it helped when Australians from other communities joined them. Mr Lo added Asian-Australian communities should also support other anti-racism causes, like the Black Lives Matter movement, and condemn comments made by political commentators that stereotyped the African-Australian and Muslim communities during the latest round of pandemic lockdowns in Melbourne. 14.01.2022 Coronavirus 'cures' and prevention techniques are popping up all over the world. So we asked the experts what actually works By Lucia Stein and the ABC's foreign correspondents The report helps depel many myths surrounding the Covid-19 virus infection which is causing panic all around the world. So it's worth reading this ABC report.... At this stage, there is no scientific evidence to suggest that the virus has a penchant for women, whether they are pregnant or not. It is not advisable for women to seek abortion because they have been infected by Covid-19 because there is no evidence that it can affect fetal development and cause congenital malformations. However, other viruses like rubella, CMV and HSV can cause congenital diseases, and so pregnant women should seek medical attention if they have any viral illness. In general, we are aware that heavily pregnant women may not cope well if they have any lung infection. So prevention against Covid-19 and any chest infection like the influenza is very important. Remember to follow expert advice to exercise social distancing, frequent hand sanitizing, and getting the flu vaccines. ----------------------------------- Can heat kill coronavirus? 10.01.2022 Have a nice, quiet and safe Easter We would like to urge people to stay safe and avoid social gathering while we all unite to contain the spread of coronavirus. It's also a time we reflect on our values and show our courage and compassion towards others. ... We are saddened by the news on racially motivated crimes associated with COVID-19. COVID-19 does not discriminate based on age, race, gender or political mindset. Say No to Racism. To those sinophobic individuals, feel ashamed of your poor and ugly attitude. You don't have to use Chinese made products, eat Chinese food or mingle with Chinese, but you cannot harm or vilify people based on race. That's unlawful! To anyone being victimised by racist thugs, stand up and speak out against racism. You don't have to tolerate it. We stand by you. To the Australian government, you have the responsibility to quell any racist movement in the national interest of unity. No ands, ifs or buts...and no more excuses to stay indifference about sinophobia. To the regulators and law enforcers, the public expects you to treat everyone with respect and with honesty. We will not support any attempt to vilify any healthcare practitioners of Chinese descent using vexatious complaints under the guise of protecting public safety. We will never kowtow to such threat and harassment. Say No to Racism. https://www.change.org/p/all-australians-unityoverfear-duri

09.01.2022 COVID-19 and Pregnancy According to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists: Pregnant women don't seem to become more severely unwell from COVID-19 than the general population... Infection doesn't seem to increase the risk of miscarriage There is no evidence the virus can pass from pregnant mother to baby There is no evidence the virus will cause abnormalities in an unborn baby Caesarean section or induction of labour does not seem necessary to reduce the risk of transmission from mother to child Some babies born to women with symptoms of COVID-19 in China were born prematurely, but it's unclear whether this was due to the virus or doctors' decisions Newborn babies and infants don't seem to be at increased risk of complications COVID-19 does not seem to pass from mother to child through breastmilk, so breastfeeding is still encouraged, although women with the virus should be extra careful with hygiene and consider wearing a face mask while feeding https://ranzcog.edu.au/statements-guidel/covid-19-statement

09.01.2022 ABC News reported Australia’s maternity care at 'crisis point’ with birth trauma rates increasing. Up to one in three Australian women have experienced birth trauma and one in ten suffered from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result. Moreover, there was ‘no support’ for fathers. We would like to address this issue by running a survey which everyone including mothers and fathers can participate. To participate in our survey, please go to this site:... https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5HT6C53 We just ask ten important questions. With this campaign, we hope to achieve better prevention and management of this serious health problem. If you or someone you know have suffered from birth trauma, please consider the following: 1) talk to your doctor to seek medical attention. Your doctor can refer you to our specialist for assessment and management. 2) seek in-depth discussion of your experience by making an appointment with our specialist. This process could help you understand what happened; what could have been done better; how to manage birth trauma; and what could be done to prevent it. 3) help people who are suffering from birth trauma by listening, understanding and caring for them. People should not suffer in silence. 4) fill out our survey form to participate in our research study into this serious health problem.
