24.01.2022 Understand the systemic issues that lead to the higher rate of Indigenous suicide in our communities. Too often services focus on the symptoms, and not the root causes such as colonialisation, trauma + re-traumatisation, child removal and more.

14.01.2022 There's an opportunity for Coonabarabran and local surrounds residents to have some ownership and input into the future of our town and communities. The local progress association is rebuilding after the previous committee and members have moved on. Why not dip your toe into a bit of volunteer service and see what it is all about - it could be just the thing you have been looking for. Our Coonabarabran : 2357 Partnerships Incorporated

13.01.2022 Check in time what colour are you? or If you have the capacity then give those that aren't doing well some positive feedback about how much they mean to us and the community

09.01.2022 A massive thanks to our team (some pictured) who got up today early on a Saturday morning and catered a cooked breaky, served refreshments helped out for the postie bike rally coming through town raising money for Wings 4 kids. Another great organisation that transports our rural kids to hospital and medical commitments in the city. Also thanks to the people that donated toward our food so we could make more of a profit. About $900 was made and will go towards suicide prevent...ion programs in our community. Grass root people helping out other grass root people, that’s what it is all about. 07.01.2022 This is a tricky subject but one to have a think about. Many of us are looking at 2021 for relief from Covid and other issues that directly affect us. The truth is that 2021 might not bring that relief, things may continue to be uncertain, new dangers could arise, drastic changes to lifestyles may continue. Awareness that this is a possibility will soften the ongoing grind. So what can you do to make 2021 less painful? - Check in with yourself every day, if not many times a d...ay. Understanding your own mental states will help you be able to manage them - Check in with friends and family. Make a note of people who are withdrawing and reach out with a direct question about how they are going - Gratitude, work on being happy with what you have. It's not always easy, but it is important to survive tough times - Service, doing things for others releases lots of happy chemicals. Get out there and volunteer. You may make new friends, see things from a different angle, and you will be making a positive difference to the world. - Keep communicating - talk about what you are feeling to people who care. Listen to them talk. Feel connected. Be vulnerable and human. We will get through this. You will get through this.

06.01.2022 Thank you once again to the Coona Times for supporting our community and our network. With another great article. R U OK ? Is one day to highlight the need for us to ask others how they are going. Don’t just limit yourself to ask others are they ok on just one day remember to do this all year round. This is why networks such as ours are so important in the community to keep these initiatives highlighted and to remind grass root people to look after each other every day of the year.
