22.01.2022 It’s been a rough few months in Victoria. Sit back, relax and turn up the sound to this early Christmas video and enjoy.

22.01.2022 Last night we had the pleasure of joining our neighbouring brigades in assisting with a water bombing exercise at the Yarra Valley Quarries. It was a great opportunity to see how the chopper operates around the hills and in low light. We also had a visit from our new Chief Officer, Jason Heffernan which gave us the chance to welcome him to the CFA and also to the Yarra Valley.... A big thank you goes out to all involved in organising the night with a lot of laughs had also some great inter brigade training before the fire season kicks off. 07.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 03.01.2022 When we say we work as one we really mean it. Different agencies, different states makes no difference. Last summer one of our CFA Strike Teams saved the life of a NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service firefighter on a remote fireground in NSW. For over an hour, Strike Team 1304 (8th rotation) crews performed CPR and used AED’s (defibrillators) to save their colleagues life. All this occurred on the side of a remote mountain whilst the crews were surrounded by fire and smo...ke. It was a super human effort by our crews that day and what’s even more amazing, our NSW colleague was up and talking on national TV just a few days later!! One of the members of the NSW crew that was there that day, sent us the below photo to let CFA know that NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has now put AED’s in all their Fire Response vehicles as a result of what happened. It was a great outcome to save a life, and a great outcome to see our northern firefighting family is a little safer now! CFA want to remind you - only 1 in 10 Australians survive a cardiac arrest! We can all help improve survival rates by knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED. Please take a moment to watch the following Ambulance Victoria video, it could save a life: https://youtu.be/oH7KciZ3UAQ BTW: Some of the AED’s used by our CFA crews to save that life in NSW, were paid for using donations from the public. So, if you’ve ever dropped a coin in a CFA tin or donated to your local CFA, THANK YOU! #ProudToBeCFA #LearnCPR #LearnToUseAEDs #weworkasone https://www.facebook.com/172636599435760/posts/3697153060317412/
