18.01.2022 RIP Laurie Meyer The members and friends of Yarra Valley Polo Club are deeply saddened to hear the passing of Laurie Meyer, our polo playing friend from Yaloak Polo Club. Laurie was way too young at 59 to go. His welcome smile and competitive attitude on the field were always a pleasure to play against. Our thoughts are with Laurie’s family and the members of Yaloak Polo.
15.01.2022 As we see the Victorian polo season draw to an end we want to take this opportunity to thank Simon Wincer for all his hard work and dedication on and off the field. Simon has had a great end to his polo season by winning the Garangula 4 goal with fellow club members Rohan Ford, Sam Stott & Jack Berner. For those who didn't already know this was Simon's last game of polo. He will be greatly missed on the field but we will be sure to see him on the side lines spectating a sport he loves. #thelegend#garangulawinners#farewellsimo#youbeauty
08.01.2022 The Yarra Valley Polo Club Tournament held on Friday 15th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of November, at Vallex Polo Club and Hidden View Farm, saw the return, after an absence of well over twenty years, of high goal polo to the Yarra Valley. The 10 Goal games were held at Vallex last Friday and Sunday, while the 0 2 Goal games were played at Hidden View Farm and the 4 Goal at Vallex on Saturday and Sunday. Both fields played beautifully and reports from all players were ...spontaneously positive. Teams in all grades were evenly matched and there was some great polo played for all spectators to enjoy. Results The Coldstream Cup 10 Goal won by Vallex Polo Club Rohan Ford, Luke O’Leary, Tom Dalton-Morgan and Ruki Baillieu. MVP Tom Dalton-Morgan Best Playing Pony Display. Bred, owned and played by Ruki Baillieu. Runners Up Fulton’s Lane The Murray Rule Cup 4 Goal won by Vallex Polo Club Amber Drum, Elliot Ralph, Sam Stott and Will Gilmore. MVP Elliot Ralph Best Playing Pony Crunch. Played by Will Gilmore and owned by Rohan Ford. Runners Up Linkeo This was a thrilling game that saw Vallex come from behind to equalise the score 6 - 6 just before going into the extra 30 seconds. Scores were level at the bell and Linkeo graciously conceded as they were unable to come up with the horse power to play an extra chukka. 0 2 Goal won by Riverlands Polo Mike Barker, Alex Hamilton, Phil Kelly and Luke O’Leary. MVP Phil Kelly Best Playing Pony Stig. Played by Jack Berner and owned by Simon Wincer. Runners Up Yarra Valley Polo Club. This was another very evenly matched game with Yarra Valley losing a narrow lead late in the last chukka.

01.01.2022 Yarra Valley Pink Rock Polo Sunday March 3rd There have been a lot of queries as to whether the Yarra Valley Pink Rock Polo Tournament will be going ahead because of the forecast hot weather conditions. To put people’s minds at rest there are a series of Australian Polo Federation heat protocols that come into play when temperatures become higher than the summer normal. These include shorter chukkas, longer breaks between chukkas and maintaining a healthy supply of water for... both drinking and cool down in the pony change over areas. The welfare of all ponies and riders is the most important factor in any game of polo. And when the WBGT, (the wet bulb globe temperature that is a combination of temperature mixed with humidity) reaches 32 then play has to be abandoned. Based on today’s conditions the WGBT anticipated for Coldstream tomorrow is 28 degrees well under the cut off point. Further with cloud cover and a cool change predicted we can hopefully look forward to both suitable playing and spectator conditions. Simon Wincer Tournament Director
