21.01.2022 Our decision-makers haven't yet learnt hard lessons about induced traffic. North East Link's shaping up an another indictment of government promising a road megaproject when public transport improvements have been overdue for decades
21.01.2022 From Friends of Banyule "Disappointing that Premier Andrews is fast tracking this massive project that is so divisive and damaging to Banyule. It is not a done deal, the campaign for a fairer, healthier transport system goes on. Join us at our AGM this Thursday, 7:30pm at the Old Shire Offices, 60 Beverley Rd. Our key note speaker is the Wonderful and practical John Stone, Melbourne University Academic, discussing planning and transport solutions for a modern and cohesive M...elbourne" #rethinkthelink #sustainablecities #getonboard #nofreewaythroughBanyule"
19.01.2022 One week until 2019 Federal election and quelle surprise, everyone's least favourite zombie project gets flogged again. Meanwhile, ALP are promising big bucks for Suburban Rail Loop, which was announced prior to 2018 Victorian state election HAPPENING TODAY AT 3PM: North East Link Protest, Leonis Avenue Reserve, Balwyn North, read more details: https://www.facebook.com/events/401481120695371/
19.01.2022 Correction: North East Link could lead to 24 lanes for Eastern Freeway widening. This on top of planned bus route alterations, Doncaster Rail option permanently removed + North East suburbs stuck in car dependency. This isn't future proofing infrastructure for Melbourne's booming population The Age: Critics attack massive widening of Eastern Freeway to up to 20 lanes https://www.theage.com.au//critics-attack-massive-widening... "The proposed upgrade of the Eastern Freeway for the Andrews government’s North East Link will see it widened to at least 12 lanes - and as wide as 24 lanes in sections. The dramatic expansion of the freeway, which is now between six and 10 lanes, is expected to shave up to 11 minutes off trips on the Eastern"

17.01.2022 In disappointing but not entirely unexpected news, the ALP state government is behaving in 2019 like that other political party that Napthine and Guy led before they attempted to inflict East West Link upon Melbourne in 2014.
13.01.2022 Shared from Sustainable Cities - Doncaster Rail - Mock Opening We call on the Parliament to immediately review their mega toll road thinking of the last decade. The North East Link and the East West Link can’t go ahead. We need to develop the suburban Rail Line to circle Melbourne, redirect jobs to rail construction and mass rail transport to Doncaster.
13.01.2022 !!! Important Change.org petition from The Friends of Fairfield Rail Spur to Kat Theophanous MP !!! Sign >>> https://www.change.org/p/kat-theophanus-save-our-fairfield- VICTRACK IS PLANNING TO SELL THIS LAND.... The Friends of Fairfield Rail Spur want this land - south of the railway between Grange Rd and Railway Place - to stay out of developers' hands. It has been used by the local community for over 100 years. Help us keep it that way! We envisage a shared path, linear park, half netball court, a small skate ramp and some social housing. We want the land to be returned to the community for public recreation and access to shops and services. If it is sold to developers - we will lose it forever! By keeping this land for community use it will also recognise the last section of the historic Outer Circle Line and complete the missing link in the Anniversary Trail.
12.01.2022 East West Link: tl:dr, expect additional three years of petty squabbles and pontificating about a 'locked box' Never mind the fact this zombie project has been rejected THREE times by the Victorian public in 1999, 2008 and 2014 https://www.google.com//scott-morrison-and-daniel-andrews-
11.01.2022 Shared from Save Doncaster Rail: that big beautiful 300 year old River Red Gum in Bullen is planned to be destroyed by #NorthEastLink, amongst habitat destruction and degradation. Back in the 1950s, a road engineer was informed by nearby residents about the indigenous significance of the Ngargee Tree in St Kilda, he then helped redesign St Kilda Junction to save the sacred tree. Read about the Ngargee Tree:... https://abc.net.au//aboriginal-leaders-promote-be/5964934/ In 2019, the Bullen tree's possible fate is a indicator of how far the Victorian state government and its road building authorities have completely lost touch with our shared history and what's truly important to our communities Djab Wurrung Heritage Protection Embassy Friends of the Earth Melbourne Sustainable Cities Say NO to North East Link Option A Friends of Banyule National Trust of Australia (Victoria) https://facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=363191987624999&id=196731657604367
07.01.2022 Hello everyone, we're here in 2019, a federal election is happening in May and East West Link's being mentioned again. Somewhat like propping up El Cids corpse* *That's one for you history buffs
07.01.2022 In 2014 many people were incredulous that Matthew Guy signed East West Link contracts and now infamous side letter of guarantee BEFORE that years state election. http://www.ycat.org.au/east-west-link-side-letter-letter-o/ Four short years later, 2018 Daniel Andrews announces North East Link, a far more massive project with massive implications for all of Melbourne, will be put to tender on Monday 26th November two days AFTER the election.... With political antics such as these it's no wonder people are disgusted with politics in general, especially given how #vicvotes 2018 has turned into dumpster fire of garbage
05.01.2022 From Friends of Banyule: North East Link = loss of open space, tight project boundaries, more induced traffic funneled to the Eastern Freeway and towards us the inner north. Let alone increased PM2.5 levels that will further diminish Melbourne's air quality. What is PM2.5? Here's a introduction: What is PM2.5 and Why You Should Care: https://blissair.com/what-is-pm-2-5.htm PM2.5 readings are often included in air quality reports from environmental authorities and companies.
