25.01.2022 In a growing climate emergency, we tend to overlook its connection to the severe impacts on biodiversity and wildlife. Its great to see companies taking a lead in this space. For the first time in the fashion brands history, Lacoste has changed its logo and replaced the famous crocodile with ten endangered species, all of which face imminent threat of extinction. The launch marks Save the Species, a three-year partnership between Lacoste and the International Union for Cons...ervation of Nature (IUCN). Top work Lacoste! 22.01.2022 YOU GO SOLAR = WE DONATE SOLAR. When local councils run a bulk buy with YEF, we ask participants to vote on which community group should receive a free solar install at the end of the program. The more people take part in the bulk buy, the more panels we donate. On Friday we were lucky enough to officially celebrate the 5.6kW solar PV system that was donated to Nagambie Bowls Club as part of our Bogie Bulk Buy, along with solar providers Eko Energy. Its all part of our mission to make a low-carbon future accessible to all
22.01.2022 For the first time, the Andrews government is about to set an Emissions Reduction Target for 2025. Time is short. We have until Monday 22 July to demonstrate strong community support for science-based targets that meet the 1.5C challenge. Targets that are bold and ambitious would require the continued rollout of solar, wind, and storage in Victoria and greater investment in public transport, among other positive changes. ... https://actonclimate-friendsofearthmelbourne.nationbuilder.

11.01.2022 Sometimes it’s nice to focus on the little things. That’s why we helped @carltonnorthprimaryschool secure a @cityofyarra grant to implement a composting system in their classrooms. We also asked @3000acres to come along and give four amazing presentations to all grades thanks Morgan! It was heartening to see how enthusiastic the kids were about compost and the environment in general

09.01.2022 When we have such hot days, we want to keep our house cool! Here's some tips to do that without using too much POWER. 1. Keep your windows shut and draw the blinds, curtains or drapes! Open those windows at night once the day heat has subsided 2. Insulate your home! More of a long-term solution and great for winter, too. ... 3. Ever heard of a cooling pillow and sheets? Yup, that's a thing - https://www.sleepsolutions.com.au/pillows/cool-gel-pillows 4. External awnings and plants/vines/trees! Particularly on the North and West-facing windows. 5. Evaporative coolers don't use as much energy as a refrigerated aircon (but they can use as much as 60 litres an hour for ducted systems)! And maybe the most important one! 6. Use a fan instead of the aircon. You'll save a ton of money and a fair chunk on carbon in the process.

06.01.2022 Last Tuesday, Carlton & United Breweries was awarded the Board Leadership of the Year at the Climate Alliance Awards, on the back of a strong submission which detailed how they intend to achieve their goal to source 100% of purchased electricity from renewable sources by 2025. CUB also jumped on Sustainability Victorias TAKE2 Pledge through YEF!!! Thats a Yarra Sustainability LEADER! 06.01.2022 Extremely excited for our TAKE2 and Yarra business CUB on their steps toward a Sustainable future: Carlton & United Breweries is proud to announce that it will no longer use plastic six-pack rings at its iconic Abbotsford Brewery, saving more than 25 million of the six-pack rings from entering the environment each year. The move will see plastic rings replaced by cardboard packaging, which means beer lovers will be able to enjoy our famous beers such as VB and Carlton Draught... in a more sustainable way. As part of our environmental commitments, we will also stop using 137 tonnes of plain shrink wrap each year on slabs of cans in coming weeks. These announcements are a major step towards achieving our commitment to ensure 100% of our products will be in packaging that is returnable or made from majority-recycled content by 2025. 06.01.2022 When we think of a renewable energy future, we also have to think holistically about how we use our spaces. Innovation in the building industry is certainly apart of that. A 36-year-old has developed a novel inkjet processing method for perovskites -- a new generation of cheaper solar cells -- that makes it possible to produce solar panels under lower temperatures. These cells can easily be fixed to almost any surface -- be it laptop, car, drone, spacecraft or building -- to produce electricity, including in the shade or indoors.
