After recent COVID developments the Yarragon Cricket Club within the Warragul-District Cricket-Association will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary of the Division 1 premiership on Saturday 27 February 2021. We will also be presenting the current team of the decade from 2010 to 2020 with certificates and unveiling plaques for team of the decades for 1990 to 2000, 2000 to 2010, and 2010 to 2020. ... 22.01.2022 The Yarragon Cricket Club would like to take this opportunity to provide an update to its members. The YCC had appointed Dilan Surappulige as its Coach for the Warragul-District Cricket-Association's 2020 2021 upcoming season however due to personal circumstances Sura will be travelling back to Sri Lanka on a full time basis. While Sura’s time with the club has been cut short, Jake Borsato, Gamini C.kumara, Andy Trewern, Kurt Badger Borsato and all of the Yarragon, Victoria community thank Sura and wish him and his family all the best in the future. #upthepanthers

22.01.2022 The Warragul-District Cricket-Association season starts next weekend! The COVID Cup is a 1 day competition which is separate to the traditional home and away season which will commence at the conclusion of the COVID Cup. The YCC has elected to field 2 teams for the COVID Cup with the hope of fielding 3 teams for the home and away season. All scheduled dates for the COVID Cup are below. It is therefore first in best dressed for the COVID Cup, if you have paid your subs you a...re getting a game! Please attend trainings Tuesdays and Thursdays and lets get back into it. 21.01.2022 The Yarragon Cricket Club (YCC) within the Warragul-District Cricket-Association is a family oriented club which is proud of our efforts towards our juniors participation numbers and as a club ensuring they can safely play the great game of cricket. The junior cricket season commenced today (delayed due to rain) and we hope the YCC has a strong 2020 2021 season. This year we are fielding an Under 16s team coached by Mick Kirkham, 2 teams in the Under 14’s coached by John Allsop and Andy Trewern, an Under 12s team (coach TBD) and the Woolworths program coached by Daniel Van de Burgt. In total we will have over 40 kids playing this year! #upthepanthers

17.01.2022 The Yarragon Cricket Club is excited to announce the return of Laytten Smith. Laytten is a great addition to the Yarragon A grade squad for the upcoming Warragul-District Cricket-Association season. Laytten is a naturally talented cricketer who has previously opened the bowling in A grade and is a middle order batsman who can bat both right and left handed. Jake Borsato, Gamini C.kumara and many more key members of the club (to be announced) are delighted to have Laytten ret...urn and commit to the long term project of the Yarragon Cricket Club. Laytten has played 105 club matches for the club. He has played alongside his father Ashley Smith (152) and Zaron Smith (157), and combined the Smith family have played 459 matches for the YCC. Laytten’s best Div 1 score is 72, and best bowling figures are 6/29. Laytten has 138 wickets to date (82 in Div 1). It’s a pleasure to have you back on board contributing to the future successes of the club. #upthepanthers

17.01.2022 The Yarragon Cricket Club commences it’s T20 season in the Warragul-District Cricket-Association's A grade competition tomorrow, this comes as a result of winning last years B grade T20 premiership. The YCC will be playing against Buln Buln Cricket Club tomorrow in Buln Buln at 5:15pm, then Hallora Cricket Club (away) on 15 December 2020, and lastly playing Neerim District Cricket Club (home) on 19 January 2021. For all players please note no senior trainings will be held on these nights, let’s get behind the team lead by Jake Green, the more support the better! #uptherpanthers

10.01.2022 The Yarragon Cricket Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Nuwan Perera and Lahiru Jayakody for their impact on the Yarragon Cricket Club in previous seasons. Both of these players are presently in Sri Lanka and will not be be returning to the Warragul-District Cricket-Association this upcoming season however we wish both of them and their families an enjoyable future and that they remain safe given the current challenge we all face. Nuwan and Larry were great c...ontributors on and off the field. Jake Borsato, Gamini C.kumara, Andy Trewern, the Yarragon community and many more key members of the club (to be announced), thank Nuwan for coaching the club last season and appreciate that we had the opportunity to meet his family. Nuwan in 2 seasons for YCC made 744 runs which included a highest score of 116 not out. With the ball Nuwan took 59 wickets at an average of 18.88, economy rate of 3.35 and best bowling figures were 5 for 42. Larry last year made 597 runs at an average of 49.75. With the ball Larry took 22 wickets at an average of 22, economy rate of 3.10. While Nuwan has already previously committed to future seasons, both of these men were great characters within the club and will be missed for the coming season, we wish them both all the best. #upthepanthers

09.01.2022 Congratulations to all senior teams and the U16 Yarragon/Neerim District side on making the finals. The U14's finished an unlucky 5th, missing out by a single win, not bad for a side with only 1 top age player. Div 1 are playing top of the table Western Park at their home ground in Warragul, both matches this season have resulted in wins to the Park, one close one and one comprehensive victory. Captain Gamini Kumara and his team are very motivated to perform. Div 3 are lucky... to be playing at home at Dowton Park against Drouin, both matches this season have resounding victories, one to Drouin and one to the Panthers, so this is the tiebreaker. Captain Jake Green guided his team into 2nd place this year, so is keen to do well. Div 5 face the dominant Warragul Gulls who have pretty much crushed every side in the division all year, but how many times have teams like this lost in semi finals? Dave Butterworth takes the reins for the finals after regular captain Lou Borsato has been laid low last week. The U16's face Garfield/Tynong out at Kydd Parke Reserve at Jindivick, the only time these two teams met this season the Neerim/Yarragon boys and girls came away with a victory. So now it is down to the business end of the season, good luck to all teams and play your best. A shout out to Div 5 Captain Lou Borsato who unfortunately had a heart attack last Friday night curtailing any cricket or any other activity for the next 6 months. He is recovering well and will be down watching Div 5 at Drouin on Saturday, take it easy Lou and relax. 07.01.2022 To the Yarragon, Victoria community including all its players and interested parties, the Yarragon Cricket Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) is now postponed. The AGM was originally scheduled for this upcoming Sunday the 28th of June 2020, however due to COVID restrictions the AGM will be at least post 12 July 2020. A new AGM date will be advised once a date can be set, we look forward to planning the upcoming season then.

The Woolworths program has been significantly delayed due to COVID however the club is now in a position to offer this program. There will be 7 sessions held at the Yarragon, Victoria Downton Park oval from 4pm to 5pm. Parents can register children to be involved via MyCricket. Given the unfortunate circumstances for Dilan Surappulige, the YCC are delighted to appoint Kurt Badger Borsato as Coach for the Warragul-District Cricket-Association’s 2020 2021 upcoming season. Kurt is a passionate local who has become an established Division 1 player and is keen to enhance the clubs weekly trainings for its senior players. In addition to the above, Andy ...Trewern had previously been elected as Captain of Division 3 however due to various commitments the club has made the decision for Jake Green to go from Division 1 Vice-Captain to Captain of Division 3. Jake Green expertly lead the team last year to a grand final (cut short by COVID) and we hope the same can be achieved again. 02.01.2022 The Yarragon Cricket Club (YCC) is excited to announce the signing of Dinith Anjula. Dinith is a passionate young cricketer possessing great batting technique and is crafty bowling spin. The left hander is a top order to middle order batsman and his left arm off spinners will be a great contributor to the club and a nice addition to the Warragul-District Cricket-Association. Jake Borsato, Gamini C.kumara, Andy Trewern, the Yarragon community and many more key members of the c...lub (to be announced), are delighted to have Dinith believe in the project of the YCC. At only 19 years of age (20 this year), Dinith already has a great deal of experience playing cricket at a high level including playing for Narre North last season, and having previously played provincial cricket in Sri Lanka. He also played last season at various times for the Eastern Maroons Cricket Club who also fielded Kurt Badger Borsato, Lasitha Amarasooriya, Gama, and Nuwan Perera of the YCC. It’s here that Dinith and Nuwan made a 100 run partnership to win their Sunday league GF. Dinith is a genuine all-rounder who will add youth to the clubs Division 1 side. We are eager to see Dinith make a big impact within the WDCA and are excited to see another talented cricketer join the YCC. #upthepanthers
