17.01.2022 MEMBER OF THE WEEK Yarram Engineering Troy Serradura and Tim Brennan are the guys behind Yarram Engineering Pty Ltd, which has been in operation for almost ...two years at 20 Station Street, Yarram. They bought the business off Tim’s parents Jim and Barb, who traded as J.W. & B.E. Brennan Steel Fabrication & Machining for about 35 years. Troy completed his apprenticeship with Jim when he first left high school, but after working offshore for about four years he decided the lifestyle and hours suited him & his family better working back on land. He decided to buy the business with his business partner Tim. Taking on the business has been challenging yet rewarding at the same time. Tim started his apprenticeship with the SEC working in both Yallourn and Loy Yang power stations. He returned to work in the family business for 20 years before purchasing it with Troy. The Yarram Engineering team consists of Troy, Tim and Steve, and their apprentice Kydon, Lynton in spare parts and the office, and Barb who still works part time keeping the businesses books up to date. Troy & Tim have had four work experience students spend time in their workshop since they took over and Troy says it’s a great trade to get in to if you’re interested in welding and working with steel. Apprenticeships take four years to complete. He says it’s a trade where you’re constantly learning and there’s a big variety of work. Yarram Engineering work on a variety of jobs in the timber industry, agriculture, fishing, mining and construction. They carry out general maintenance/ repairs for local industries and businesses as well as repairs on earth moving, farm machinery and equipment. Fabrication of custom items such as trailers, signs, dog boxes, you name it! They have a wide range of steel, stainless steel, aluminium products, bearings, bolts, belts and other products to back up their service. The team also repairs, overhauls and replaces hydraulic and pneumatic equipment including hoses and fittings sales. Troy and Tim enjoy working together with their customers and get a great deal of satisfaction from turning a customer’s idea into a piece of equipment or a structure they can then use on their farm or in their business. The drought effects businesses like Yarram Engineering as a lot of the work they do is on farm machinery and equipment but despite this they still have plenty of work on. They have plans to expand the workshop which they are able to build themselves. Troy and Tim have both lived in the area their whole lives and love it. They both have small farms and love taking their family and kids exploring. They love the laid back lifestyle here in the Guts of Gippsland. 10.01.2022 We were aproached be Kubota Australia to develop kit to mount their seeder to their power harrow.One stipulation was good and safe access and folding steps.Adjustable burser bar covers any seeding requirements. Came up a treat with a bit of orange paint.
