25.01.2022 GOLF IS STILL ON THE AGENDA! All, After the Premier’s dire announcements this afternoon, and a return to Stage 3 restrictions for 6 weeks, there is for the moment a shining light.... Golf is still a valid form of exercise for which you may leave the house. Whilst trips to holiday homes, the snow or the Murray are out, as are trips to the Penisula or Coastal golf courses, Yarrambat Park Golf Course is still open to members. Collectively we must cherish this opportunity and return to the cautious days of the early re-opening. We have, all of us, become a little complacent in recent weeks, and if we want to stay ahead of the curve we must continue to be vigilant. No fist or elbow bumps No handshakes No sharing equipment No touching each others balls No touching the flag No loitering in large groups near the entrances, paths or walkways before or after the round Wash your hands Cough or sneeze into your elbow If feeling sick, stay home! And, don’t pay comp fees with coins, and get yourselves some envelopes! Sadly, those members in the lockdown suburbs are still prohibited from attending the course. To roll out a very tired cliché (without the celebrity mansion) We are all in this together; YGC, Belgravia staff, Landscape Solutions staff, YPLGC and the golfing public. Let’s regain our focus and reinvigorate our vigilance, and we can all do our best to come out the other side. Take care, stay safe, look out for each other and don’t be the one to jeopardise the golf course by doing anything silly! Stuart President YGC

24.01.2022 Hopefully people will follow the rules and we can come out the other side of this latest lockdown safely.

24.01.2022 It's time that residents of Yarrambat, Doreen, South Morang and surrounds take note of the dirt bikes belting through the bush of the Plenty River valley, destroying the native habitat and damaging the environment and the amenity of the area. These morons caused significant damage to the Golf Course last Sunday afternoon as the mindless riders thought it would be fun to tear around the course. If anyone was out for a legitimate Mother's Day walk last Sunday around 1:45p.m., a...nd saw any dirt bikes in the vicinity of the Course, Equestrian arena, archery range or Plenty Gorge Parklands side of the river please contact CrimeStoppers. Every small detail will help to build a picture and help put an end to these mindless vandals ruining the amenity of the area for their own selfish ends. Tens of thousands of dollars damage to the bush and the course for seconds of stupidity. Enough is enough. You can call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au

16.01.2022 If my ball hits the foam in the cup, is it 'holed'? The problem with a foam insert is it can deflect a ball it it travelling a bit too fast, or hits it on the bounce. We’ve accepted all kinds of compromises to reduce our risks as we’ve returned to golf in the midst of a pandemic, including not touching the flagstick and the way our holes are now lined so we don’t have to reach our hands all the way in to pick the ball out.... We have all heard the tales of woe of players who’ve suffered near misses as their shots tantalisingly bounce in and then out of the cup, claims of missed holes-in one, eagles and the like. Some have asked whether the ball was, in fact, holed at any point? The short answer is no. What do the Rules of Golf say? In response to the new world we all find ourselves in, the R&A issued some temporary provisions to help us get round as safely as possible. On the hole and flagsticks, they require on course setup: A method of inserting the hole liner to be used that means all of the ball does not fall below the surface of the putting green and can be easily retrieved by handling the ball only. Turning later to the rules implications of that, they add the ball is considered holed if any part of it is below the surface of the putting green. For qualifying scores, those that count for handicap, the ball is considered holed if any part of the ball is below the surface of the putting green, even if not lodged against the flagstick. So why isn’t the ball holed then in this case? Although the entirety of the ball doesn’t have to be below the surface of the cup, the definition of what is classed as holed hasn’t changed. The key in that definition is the phrase when a ball is at rest in the hole. Get out the 500-plus page Official Guide to the Rules of Golf (or make it easier on yourself by viewing it on the R&A’s rules app) and you’ll also find an interpretation that neatly explains everything. It says: The words ‘at rest’ in the definition of holed are used to make it clear that if a ball falls into the hole and bounces out, it is not holed. So close, I’m afraid, but no cigar Unless the ball stops, with at least part of the ball below the surface of the green and, in the hole - it is not yet holed.

09.01.2022 SUPER SUPER REALLY IMPORTANT. New playing conditions apply for Yarrambat golfers - they are all designed to keep the players, course, staff and groundstaff safe - and to ensure we can continue to play and stay connected. Breaches of the course COVID-19 Safety Plan will be treated very seriously and harshly.. $$$ Big, huge fines can apply for breaches of CHO directives .... and will most likely result in exclusion from the course. (Fair warning!)... * Stay safe * Respect the course * Respect the staff * Stop the spread Thank you.
