House and grass fires are commonly caused by improperly extinguished or tossed cigarettes. Always discard and extinguish cigarettes in a container made from either metal, glass or ceramic material - like an ash tray. For more fire safety tips, visit us: https://fal.cn/3cVxQ.

21.01.2022 Flags flown at half mast Over the weekend, the NSW Rural Fire Service has lost a valued member. It is with sadness that I confirm the death of one of our volunteers. Joanne Gaffey died following a suspected stroke while undertaking tasks at Gosford Catering Brigade Station Thursday afternoon.... Joanne was a member of the Gosford Catering Brigade with more than seven years’ service. I’m sure you will join me in offering our deepest condolences to Joanne’s family and friends, fellow crew and brigade members. We are offering every assistance possible to Joanne’s family and fellow members at this difficult time. As a mark of respect, I would ask that flags across all NSW RFS buildings are lowered to half-mast today. Regards, Rob Rogers AFSM Commissioner

Many smoke alarms installed before or in the couple of years since 2010 are now starting to reach the end of their life span and will need to be replaced if they are out of date. Don’t risk it, test it. Working smoke alarms help save lives.... #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

10.01.2022 Congratulations Ken Pullen for being one of the 2021 NSW RFS Australian Fire Service Medal recipients. It is a well deserved award presented to members who display the highest level of commitment and meritorious achievements. Ken has had a strong influence on the Yarramundi community over the years. He is one of our former Captains and is still a life member of the Yarramundi brigade. Anyone that has worked with Ken will know his commitment not only to the RFS but to the safety and well being of the whole community. The Hawkesbury district, RFS and Yarramundi is very luck to have such a great person as part of the team.
08.01.2022 On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. In the four years of the war more than 330,000 Australians had served overseas, and more than 60,000 of them had died. The social effects of these losses cast a long shadow over the postwar decades. Today, at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Yarramundi Brigade invite you to remember those who have fallen, those who were injured and the families who suffered tremendous loss to that we, as Australians owe a deal of gratitude.
