19.01.2022 These beautiful birds are called Crimson Rosellas and are abundant in The Dandenong Ranges, making their funny chattering noise. They can become quite friendly. It is such a privilege to be able to get so close to these exquisite birds.

17.01.2022 What a lovely surprise the Icecream van came to visit today. What joy he brought. Plus memories of childhood. Such a pleasant relief from lockdown. Everyone was ecstatic.
15.01.2022 Wonderful Garden featured in the Secret Gardens of the Dandenong Ranges
12.01.2022 We have so many bees in our garden. The other day there was a raucous noise. The white cockies were going crazy in a tree over the road. It turned out to be a possum. This pandemonium brought out the neighbours. Socially distancing of course! We met our neighbour who keeps bees. He generously gave us a jar of honey, see picture, because his bees make a beeline for our property every morning and he said it was our honey!! Well at least our nectar. That explains why our garden hums!! It tastes yummy too
10.01.2022 Stage 4. The next job was to paint the garden cottage. It was badly in need of paint for protection. As Anders is Swedish we have been there many times and I fell in love with the beautiful red cottages dotted all over Sweden. They look so lovely either in the snow or summer when everything is so vibrantly green. So we wanted to paint our little Cottage the same colours but getting the correct colour was a challenge. With the help of the Lilydale Paintshop I think we succee...ded. Well our Swedish family and friends say so! So it is now known as the Wiking Swedish Stuga. We also wanted to connect a little water tank which is next to it so we installed gutters and drain pipes and I’m happy to announce that it is now full! It provides water both for the garden and when we are having a bonfire. The whole family was involved Lisa Wiking Anders Wiking Darren Feltus Kiara and Jesse. What a great job they all did. It took a whole weekend plus a few extra hours to finish off. We have since installed linoleum on the floor for easy sweeping. The children set up the Fairy Garden next to it. You may ask what we use it for. Well it’s great for contemplation, I’m going to hang my herbs for drying this year. We also store toasting forks and jaffle irons for the fire pit etc. the Welcome sign was a gift from Anders sister Stina many years ago Stage 5 tomorrow night. See more
10.01.2022 Another ISO job completed. Highly recommend Krush Mountain Bike Wash for all cleaning jobs especially Solar Panels. Krushoz.com They were filthy and obviously very inefficient.
08.01.2022 So what have we been up to during this COVID 19 Lockdown. We are in Melbourne Australia so we are facing at least 4 more weeks of lock down. We are so sorry to be closed for the moment but we haven’t been sitting doing nothing. We have our eldest daughter and her family living with us from Bali at the moment. They have been so helpful and supportive with the works. The garden has really sustained us during these challenging times. As you will see in the coming few days. We h...ope that when we can reopen our guests can also enjoy the changes and improvements to our garden. So here is our story. In August 2018 Anders built a retaining wall around the trampoline to give a level space in the garden. It took another year before the next stage. 2019 we had earth works to level off the ground up to the new retaining wall. Here you can see the wall and the earth works. This year 2020 we have really been moving with drainage, paths, steps, vegetable garden, painting of the She Shed etc. We will post pics over the next few days. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have. So here goes.
06.01.2022 Stage 5. For a while Anders has wanted steps up to the top garden from the driveway. There is a path behind the shed which I drive my scooter up, but to get up there quickly, the steps do the job. Anders built simple steps with wooden logs and reinforcing rods through the wood into the ground. The soil is hard clay. The children love them and are like mountain goats running up them. I plan to plant Erigeron on the hill to soften the look. I really like the rustic and non ...uniform look of them. Stage 6 tomorrow night. Anders Wiking Lisa Wiking Darren Feltus
03.01.2022 Don’t you just love Spring? Our Pear tree is flowering makes you feel so happy and the bees are happy too. The garden is just buzzing.
