04.01.2022 Dear Community, We have taken on board your comments and the news coverage of the farmer’s markets that took place on Saturday August 15th and wish to address this as follows: Firstly, apologies to those who attended the market that felt the market was not managed efficiently and safely, we take the health and safety of our community seriously and are always happy to discuss any issues with those who attended the market in a constructive manner. ... The government announced and confirmed that food markets i.e. farmer’s markets are considered essential services and are permitted to trade. With this in mind, we have a COVID-19 safe plan and measures in place which were written for the August 15th Yarraville Farmers market. These measures were put in place such as; signs to social distance, not to eat at the market, not to sit down at the market, not to linger, to buy and leave, X were placed at every stall with arrows of where to queue, stall holder wore masks and sanitiser was placed at stalls and at a station to the entrance of the market. That said, people did sit on benches and as soon as they did, they were asked not to sit and that they must leave if they had finished their shopping. We did not see anyone consume any produce bought at the market. The swing park was taped off and the swings chained so that children were not allowed to play there. Just to be clear, this is not part of the market and therefore is not the responsibility of the market manager. This is a matter for the police as is the park itself. A couple of groups were caught sitting in the park, as you know this was reported on channel 7, 9 and in the Herald Sun. We do agree that Saturday was a lovely day and more people attended than anticipated however we were still within our market number requirements. Anyone caught not complying with the rules were asked to comply. As the market is in a park and we cannot stop locals from exercising in pairs, we have decided to put extra measures in place whereby those exercising will not be allowed into the market and only singular shoppers will be accepted, we will tape off the market so it is clear it is separate from the park and that our security is tightened up with more marshals. Where possible, please do not bring children into the market unsupervised. Also to note, the children’s playground and the rest of the park is not the Markets responsibility and we have no control over this area. It was disappointing to see the tap was taken down at the Children’s swing park. If this happens again, we will call authorities. To this end, we would like to thank all our customers who attended and adhered to the COVID 19 rules and measures. We will share an update on our new measures shortly.

04.01.2022 We operate on the first Saturday and the third Saturday of the month. The next market is on November 7th. Thank you for your support, we hope to see you at our next market.
