25.01.2022 Dragon Report Hello all Paddlers, Well it’s getting harder to find new words to say how great Paddling has been lately- we’ve used fabulous and fantastic and simply the best, so all I can say is it has been more of the same, good, good, good.... The wind has been a bit persistent but now that we are permitted to have a full crew in the boat (and have been fortunate enough to have new paddlers coming to give it a try) the extra power in the boat can easily handle the wind! Plenty of endurance practice happening and plenty of laughs, seriously what more could we want. On Saturday, the plan is to have a paddle, then afterwards go to the Ski Club Deck for morning tea, which will be provided by the Dragon Boat members who have saved some coins throughout the year. So if you can come that will be excellent. Normal starting time 8.45am. Good time to have a chat about the year ahead and what we are trying to achieve . See you there, Margaret C. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Happy Hour Happy Hour the 4th Dec 2020 The Yarrawonga Yacht Club was the venue for Lyn Brear to celebrate her Retirement from the Sacred Heart Primary School with family and friends who gave her a very warm send of with Balloons, streamers, photo's of past years, the traditional speeches and cutting of the Cake. 22.01.2022 Dragon Report Hello all Paddlers, Well it seems with Dragon Boating it’s either a feast or a famine! Saturday last with perfection on the weather report, we had a feast- this wretched Covid requirement of 10 paddlers doesn’t take into consideration the desires of DB’ers who have been on dry land since March - however, we enjoyed the morning out, with Gary kayaking beside us, to allow us to keep within the legal limits. Tuesday, again a beautiful day on the water, again ...a feastand we were very happy to welcome Tracey, a new paddler giving it a shot, and we hope to welcome her back for another try. Also, we welcomed a visitor from Wangaratta, Kevin, who is a member of Dragon Masters, who joined us for a paddle. It was a spectacular night on the Lake - and then there was today, Thursday. Yes a famine, so we didn’t drag the great ship out onto the Lake. Not enough brute strength to brave the elements. Hope you all noticed we made it into the Chronicle again last Saturday (all looking spectacular in our new racing shirts). Saturday we hope to see all paddlers 8.45am ready for another great morning of splashing and fun and some co-ordinated paddling of course, - it’s the best way to start the weekend. Margaret Cousins.

12.01.2022 Dragon Dreams Hello all Paddlers, Now that we have broken free from the "non event" that the last six months have been, how fantastic is Saturday sounding? Twenty nine degrees and a Lake to ourselves- these are ingredients for perfect Dragon Boating!... Last night we had our Dinner and Awards night at the Golden Inn Restaurant with about eighteen attending. It was a great social night enjoyed by all (and for many of us the first night out since the great lockdown!) The awards presented were: Encouragement Award - Delmae. Most Improved - Arnold. Most Kilometres Paddled - Gary. Club Person of the Year - Steve. A huge congratulations to all these most worthy recipients. Also presented were medallions to all the participants in the Regattas we attended - Nagambie 2019 and the State Championships at Gateway Lakes,March 2020 Hope to see you on Saturday at 8.45am to enjoy what is bound to be the perfect paddle. Margaret C. P.S. If you heard a commotion on Tuesday, it was the Birthday Fairy landing on Arnold's place. Happy Birthday Arnold.

10.01.2022 Dragon Report Hello all Paddlers, Ah, the pleasures of Dragon Boating in Spring - Saturday last, a beautiful day on the Lake, which allowed the socially distanced crew to go up to the bridge and enjoy the exercise in a gentle breeze. Tuesday evening - no words available to describe how perfect conditions were, so again the crew enjoyed the total bliss of slipping along that unbelievable water. And then there was today! Wind blew all day at very close to tornado speeds, t...he temperature a wee bit on the low side, but there they all were, the die-hards rearing to go. We did spend the evening in the shelter of the island, but again some great fun and fitness was enjoyed by all. The new club racing shirts have arrived and were proudly modelled by most of the paddlers tonight, they look really great. The invoices have been emailed to all, so as soon as you pay, you too can strut in style. A huge Thank You to Glen and Maureen’s son who has re-painted the Dragon head and tail - it looks Spectacular! Hope to see all on Saturday 8.45am. Margaret Cousins. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

06.01.2022 some photos from last Saturdays paddle thanks to our social member John.

04.01.2022 Dragon Report Hello all Paddlers, Today the temperature hovered around 35 degrees and to sit on the good ship Dragon with little waves gently flapping at the sides, you can’t help but think can life get any better than this? And if Yes, please let us know ASAP! We were happy to welcome a new prospective paddler Gail, and we ventured up to the bridge and beyond, although is was mostly gentle paddling.... Tuesday night, also perfect on the water, we did some long distance/endurance paddling which was most enjoyable and any resulting sore muscles were fine as we know that is just happy pain. Saturday, I am just reporting this on hearsay, but apparently a full boat went out and had a great morning. I was told they skirted Lake Mulwala twice, but if you weren’t there, I suggest you disregard that as it sounds like bragging. Some gossip which was picked up onboard tonight: one of our coaches and sometime sweep and awesome paddler, Julie Brooks, is now, not only a Councillor but Deputy Mayor! Congratulations Julie, we are thrilled to have a direct link to the Town Hall (just in case we need it.) Saturday morning 8.45am is looking to be utterly fabulous on the water, so as we always say BE THERE. Margaret Cousins. _------------------------------------------------------------------------- Happy Hour tomorrow evening from 5.00pm come along and enjoy relax wind down with a couple of nice cold drinks.
