25.01.2022 Spring is just around the corner. Love our daffodils in the orchard.
24.01.2022 First chicks for the season hatching today. What a clever girl.
22.01.2022 Just love this time of year. Blooming and buzzing.
22.01.2022 Autumn for sure.
21.01.2022 There's a saying that the use of bamboo is limited only by your imagination. Here's some ways we've used it on kitchen utensils. Phyllostachys aurea makes great handles that get better with use.
21.01.2022 It's March and we've got lots of delicious tomatoes. So today was Sugo making day with home grown herbs and garlic. Perfect for pasta sauce, pizza or addition to other dishes.
20.01.2022 Just love the variety in colour, shape and size from our gorgeous hens. Thank you chookies
20.01.2022 It's that funguy time again
18.01.2022 The splendid wren, one of the many birds we have that love nesting in the bamboo. They feel so safe!
16.01.2022 Progress report on the three red winged fairy wren chicks. They're completely feathered now so mum's not sitting on them anymore. They survived an 8degC minimum last night so lucky dad and mum are feeding them up as we have a 3degC forecast tonight. Loving watching this from the house.
15.01.2022 Pete's been cleaning up the shed. Lots of bamboo bundles at bargain prices.
14.01.2022 It's that wood rotting fungi time again.
12.01.2022 https://modernfarmer.com//photo-essay-the-last-floating-/ Pete designs "chinampas" in the SW based on this ancient technique.
12.01.2022 What a lovely Christmas gift. This red winged fairy Wren hatched three babies on Christmas Eve right near the front door under a hanging basket.
12.01.2022 These 3m poles are destined for York Festival where they'll be used for Wara Art. They'll form the frame for a Japanese artist to make 3 endangered fauna. Check it out at https://yorkfestival.com.au/event/wara-art-comes-to-york/
10.01.2022 Happy (belated) International Bamboo Day!
10.01.2022 We're going nuts - it's squirrel time again.
05.01.2022 I can see some quince paste coming on.
04.01.2022 Sweet organic bamboo shoots (Phyllostachys nidularia) that went off to market this week. Runners are sweeter than clumpers.
02.01.2022 Focussing on beneficial insects here - robber fly, native bees (mating I presume) and predatory wasp. What fascinating creatures.
02.01.2022 Part of a black bamboo order leaving tomorrow. The floral artist client will polish them and create an installation in a restaurant in Fremantle.
02.01.2022 What a surprise to see this brushtail possum in the day. She (or maybe it's a he) sleeps in a basket on a shelf on our verandah. Perhaps she was out looking for a mate! She came sauntering up the drive-way and then onto the wood shed before finding her way back to bed. Dirty stop-out!
