25.01.2022 We are looking forward to seeing everyone again as we return tomorrow, Monday 20th July, for the beginning of Term 3. We ask that your child does not attend if they are unwell or have been to Victoria or one of the Covid hotspots within the last 14 days.

20.01.2022 Today we said farewell to Lucy (for now) as she goes on maternity leave. The 3yr preschool children made a beautiful card and had a little farewell party. We will miss you very much Lucy and can't wait to hear news of your baby's safe arrival

20.01.2022 Today the 4yr preschool children attended a smoking ceremony in the park. Ngunnawal Bradley and Wiradjuri Jamal burnt gum leaves and explained the significance of the smoking ceremony to get rid of the bad spirits. Aunty Wendy then spoke to the children about her experiences growing up in Yass - gathering food for her family and swimming in the waterholes. Aunty Wendy also told us she was the youngest of 10 children! We were then able to decorate our own boomerangs to take home. In the afternoon we went back to the Library to watch Aboriginal stories on the big screen, written by Don Bell and read by his grandson, Jai Bell. What a fabulous experience during NAIDOC week. 20.01.2022 Yass Early Childhood Centre is looking for an enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher to join our team. The position is in the 4yr old preschool room, Mondays 8.30am - 4.00pm and Fridays 8.00am - 4.15pm during NSW school terms. There will also be the possibility of extra days when required. Applicants must have: An Early Childhood Degree or ACECQA approved equivalent NSW Working with Children Check Knowledge of the NQS, NQF and EYLF... The ability to design and implement a program suitable for 4-5yr olds and a dedicated approach to working with children. The successful applicant will preferably also have a current first aid certificate and child protection training, or be willing to undertake training to obtain these. 18.01.2022 YECCA is now closed for the school holidays. Wishing all our children and their families a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday. We will reopen on Wednesday 27th January.

15.01.2022 The children were delighted to meet Yolande's new little lamb Dusty, when she came for a visit to YECCA today. Dusty was so worn out by all the attention, that she fell asleep on Yolande's lap as she read 'Where is the green sheep'

13.01.2022 How incredibly lucky we were today, to have one of our parents come and put on a 'show' for us to celebrate her daughter's birthday with her friends at YECCA! The children were mesmerised by the circus clown and her tricks and were able to have a turn at all the props during and after the show.

12.01.2022 CAKE STALL happening now! Come on down and treat yourself to some home baked goodies from the street stall near Miller's Pharmacy, whilst supporting our community based preschool. We will be here until 12.30, unless sold out earlier

04.01.2022 It's the last day of term! What a lovely way to end it with a visit from Cassie's and Oscar's dog, Trixie. She was very sweet and gentle. We wish all of our families a safe and restful break. We reopen on Monday, 20th July

02.01.2022 What an incredible week we have had here at YECCA, celebrating all things science, for National Science Week. Not only did all the Educators contribute their own experiments, but we were also very fortunate to have Benjamin's Dad Matt Quinn come in and put on a little Science show, with many different experiments. Over the week we have observed chemical reactions of common household ingredients, made lava lamps, found out how to not pop a balloon when a needle is poked in i...t, explored wind direction, explored the process of capillary action, made slime, observed how goop can be both liquid and solid at the same time and made butter, just to name a few. It is wonderful to see the interest in the children's faces and listen to the many questions that they pose, as they wonder 'why and how' things happen. Science is all around us everyday and we explore it in many different ways, sometimes without even knowing it! Maybe you can try some cool science experiments at home. See more

01.01.2022 Julie and Margot attended the Bendigo Bank 'Grants Presentation' night last Thursday in Boorowa. YECCA was fortunate enough to be chosen as a grant recipient, which will pay for soft-fall to be laid on the back verandah. We are extremely grateful to the Bendigo Bank for supporting us.
