23.01.2022 ***IMPORTANT INFORMATION*** Changes to Ngallu Wal Aboriginal Child and Family Centre Growing Potential and Yawarra Community & Child Care wish to advise the local community that as at 31 December 2020, Ngallu Wal Aboriginal Child and Family Centre will be closing its doors for the final time, as we come to the end of an incredible journey. ... A new organisation called Narang Muru Aboriginal Corporation will commence operating from the centre in January 2021. Narang Muru Aboriginal Corporation will look to transition some services provided by Ngallu Wal, unfortunately, families accessing Ngallu Wal’s early learning centre will need to find alternative care. Information about this transition has been distributed to families. For more information regarding childcare, please contact Karen Minter on 02 9628 8670. Ngallu Wal’s proud place in the community Growing Potential and Yawarra Community & Child Care helped establish Ngallu Wal in 2013 as part of a New South Wales Government initiative aimed at closing the gap. Since that time, we have worked alongside and actively with the community to grow and develop Ngallu Wal into a thriving community hub. Throughout the last seven years, Ngallu Wal has played a key role in the community by successfully delivering a broad range of children and family-based programs and services, such as, primary health services, allied health, supported playgroups, school readiness programs, community outreach programs, infant health screening, Elders groups and more. The early learning centre has delivered an exceptional level of care, with ratings exceeding the National Quality Standard. We’re incredibly thrilled to have supported this journey. Our dedication to the local community remains unchanged Although Growing Potential and Yawarra Community & Child Care won’t be involved in the new management of the centre, we are proud to continue our history of supporting local Aboriginal children and families to achieve their goals. Growing Potential will continue to work in partnership with Aboriginal communities throughout Blacktown and Doonside, delivering a broad range of initiatives with Windaan Aboriginal Services. Yawarra Community & Child Care will continue to operate their early learning centre catering for children 2-5 years in Bidwill. Thank you Growing Potential and Yawarra Community & Child Care would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved or supported Ngallu Wal’s journey, our staff, the local community, partners as well as NSW Department Communities and Justice.
