24.01.2022 Another Ybloke 4-71 supercharger intake nestling into a new home.

24.01.2022 It's been 7 years and 3 months since I started down this road, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. All the primed parts and the body just need wet sanding now. I plan on using a roll-on bed liner on the inside of the fenders and the rear fender wells. Even put "mini-tubs" in the rear fender wells for some beefy tires. While waiting to get the car back in the body shop for paint I have made a lot of progress with the car in primer; It's all insulated except ...for the floor because I don't have the seats yet. I finally got the American Racing Torque Thrust rear wheels I have been waiting for. It took a month because they were special order because of the 5" backspace. The tires are Mickey Thompson 28x10" and they fit the "mini-tubbed" wheel wells really well. (Took A LOT of Measuring). Since the battery will be partitioned off I am running remote charging cables to the Optima battery which has both top and side terminals. The side terminals will be used to run cables along the frame to my kill switch on the dash and the starter relay. I'm hoping to get the car back in the body shop for paint end of October then final assembly this winter and off to the upholstery shop for the interior. See more

23.01.2022 Dean Markusons Grey Ghost doing what it does best! This video is of Dean and the Grey Ghost under Ford fe power...impressive to say the least... Dean has just completed the build of a 292+0.040 Ford Yblock which Dynod over 500 hp to replace the fe.... The full specs of the engine including a Ybloke 471 Supercharger Intake Manifold and Ybloke Balancer Coupling have been generously provided to the Yblock faithful (see post on this Facebook page timeline, last week) Thought it would be very special if possible to get this Before Yblock and another, down the track a bit further After Yblock installation, I hope this will be possible...

23.01.2022 This is what you see when you open the box from the Ybloke. Then, you want to share that feeling with a bunch of fellow minded enthusiasts by Instagram... And Kev from Perth (Greaser54) becomes another happy customer commenting on the quality of the Ybloke manifold..this time by Instagram

22.01.2022 Bob St Lawrence Interview 1999 https://youtu.be/_eji5TFWzQ4?t=72

22.01.2022 CLICK ON THIS LINK TO SEE YOUTUBE VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWDQzeAGlDw&t=32s G'day Lindsay, Kevin Pedrina ( manifold #035) here. ... I hope the photo attachments come through to you. I have finally been able to obtain the video a mate took of the initial start up. At this stage the engine is still in the purpose built stand, but the plan is to fit it in a 1940 Ford pickup I am building. The Yblock is a 1959 312, bored . 040" and Race Tech forged flat top pistons, with Hastings moly rings fitted. Standard (ECZ) 312 connecting rods are fitted with ARP bolts. Main cap bolts, and head bolts are also from ARP. All internals were fully balanced. The camshaft, valve springs and retainers are Iskendarian. The Isky cam part #S-934. The specs are 280 degrees advertised, 228 degrees @ 0.050", 111 degree lobe separation, 0.500 lift. A rollmaster timing chain kit is fitted, along with a Power Bond balancer, with extra holes drilled and tapped in six places for the Ybloke blower pulley adaptor. As I hope to run air-con and power steering in the pickup, I have fitted a BBC 2V belt pulley between the adaptor and the blower pulley. On the water pump is a two groove pulley from a short water pump SBC. For spark I have fitted an MSD ready to run billet distributor, with 8.5mm plug leads, while the fuel side is controlled by self learning MSD Atomic efi system. The Ybloke 471 Intake manifold #035 has been matched with a 4-71 blower, set up ready to run, obtained from a company in the USA, whose name escapes me. The blower snout, idler pulley and arm are BDS products. (I think!) The 471 supercharger is running 8mm pitch pulleys (48t and 52t), and the 2" wide belt are from Bob Fisher in Melton (Vic). The oil pan is a truck item, modified to take extra oil, as well as being internally baffeled. It is started by a Powermaster starter. Hopefully I have covered everything, however if there is something I have missed, don't hesitate to contact me. In the mean time I will try to locate the video from the initial start up. Just noticed I forgot to mention another important part of the engine. You probably noticed them in the photos. The Ybloke finned valve covers, and attaching alloy wing nuts, were purchased from you at a Ballarat swap many years ago and sat on the shelf in the shed until the 'right' project came along! Regards and best wishes, Kevin

21.01.2022 It has been just under four years (Aug 2014) since the Ybloke Supercharged Mad Yblock was brought to life... Following around 18 months of design, prototypes, development and a healthy helping of pure grit...good advice and luck... The big day arrived... A day when all the effort and learning was put to the test and the now Ybloke Supercharged 'Mad Motor' fired first time, relishing every gulp of supercharged air it could swallow, idling without complaint and impatiently awa...iting the next throttle action... It doesn't take long to empty the vintage (gravity feed) one gallon JAP fuel tank, it takes a longer time to wipe the silly grin off the faces of any of the blokes who are there to whiteness one of the many 'test firing's' the engine has enjoyed. I still could not stop myself from regularly visiting the YouTube video posted at the time, it's addictive... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nrj0S6jF40c&sns=em Now, I can actually load the Mad Supercharged Yblock on Facebook and have it as a feature video, where I had always imagined it should be... Why not become a Blown Yblock addict? Like me... 21.01.2022 What has the Ybloke been doing? After many requests for a Yblock supercharger 'kit' I have been busy with a bunch of sourcing and matching supercharger components to offer a 'kit'.... Almost there, here is a nearly complete Yblock supercharger 'kit' brought together by the Ybloke.. Still making arrangements with USA suppliers to establish a 'kit' offer that will be priced over the next few weeks...... Because of the limited availability of 4-71's in Australia I have been looking at the possibility of establishing a core charge for the 4-71 Supercharger (providing the unit is found to be without defect and rebuildable to an appropriate standard)

20.01.2022 Easy 312 crankshaft ID .. Previously published in YBM by Ybloke Easy 312 crank identification ( there is no need to count the dots)... Every so often I receive phone calls from all manner of people wanting to find out about y-blocks. Just last week I received a call from Jim who was calling from interstate (Victoria) he has got my number from a mate, Ray (in this age of the internet word of mouth, once in a while, still wins out.) Jim had just acquired a 1955 Sunliner which had undergone an engine replacement at some time in the past, he had some casting numbers from the block and heads, he wanted to know what he had, a 272, 292 or a 312. First thing I ask is: Do you have a computer? So I direct him to the John Mummert site Y-block.com where, in the Technical section there is a table of engine casting numbers with year of manufacture and capacities, also on another page there is a table of the head casting numbers. Whilst I was on the phone, I flashed up the computer and got into y-block.com. The block casting number EDB-6015-E returned: 1957 Dearborn block 292 cu in and the heads ECZ-C returned: 1956 Thunderbird heads with 1 7/8 intake valves. The inevitable question came next! How can I tell if it’s a 312? I once more direct him to the Mummert web site where a ‘dot’ on the crankshaft flange is described and a photograph provided. (To me, the untrained eye looking for a ‘dot’ always seemed to me to be less than a 100% reliable 312 Crankshaft identification method.) I asked him if he was planning to drop the sump (oil pan)? If so, I suggested the next step was to look for a casting number from a crankshaft counterweight, look for ECZ (but not always present) Another method of identification is to measure the mains. The 312 crankshaft has larger mains than a 272-292 (but this method alone is no longer reliable as there are many 312 cranks turned down to 292 main size). There is one failsafe method to identify the 312 Crank and as I began to describe it, I realised that I had not seen any literature or writings in respect to this (most obvious) identification method. I made calls to check with a couple of known y-block authorities, one in the US the other in Australia and I went about describing my observation and both of these y-blokes were unaware! You see, years ago, the local Hot Rod club came to visit my shed for a ‘sticky beak’ I have a y-block treasure or two and word got out. I decided to put on a display in the space usually occupied by my son Lee’s car. First I rolled out the ‘Mad Motor’ (292 y-block with 285 duration cam and quite a history of drag & salt lake racing ) it sat in front of the shed ready to be ‘flashed up’ when the club members arrived (to knock from flight any annoying insects with a 15486372 sound wave).

18.01.2022 The following story is a testimonial to the man, Bob St. Lawrence, who against all the odds, contrary to advice and criticism about the shortcomings of the Y Block, went about his business in the quest for speed. On the way he built a combination of strength and reliability that not only left all comers in its wake but can genuinely lay claim to the title; The Worlds Fastest Y Block. Proving beyond doubt: What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.

16.01.2022 Tim Paisleys blown yblock, running a Holley/Weiand 144? Pulsing on the throttle as it runs rich then lean, then rich then lean as the engine tosses up what recipe it likes best....muttering like a child told not to run in the house.. This car has a pedigree of being built by Randy Cummelt, who, in a competition prepared dragster broke the world record for a yblock powered car which was held by Bob St Lawrence of Perth Western Australia for more than 30 years at 9.1 sec 173 m...ph.. ( both Bob and Randy now run on the big strip in the heavenly sky, the car has moved on to Tim.) This 55 Ford is no grocery car, it has been built with attitude https://www.facebook.com/10002979871/posts/307932036876751/

14.01.2022 Jake Hart at Tim McMasters facility starting up his new Yblock engine using the Ybloke 471 Supercharged Intake Manifold in an unblown configuration. The Ybloke manifold has unique additional mounting points on the manifold which allows the 471 carburettor adapter plate to be bolted to the Ybloke Intake without a supercharger, so an engine can be run unblown for initial start-up and run-in without concerns of possible supercharger impacts.. When the engine has been run-in an...d running as a new engine should. The carburettor and 471 adapter plate can then be removed and transferred to the top of the recod 471 supercharger (without disturbing Ybloke Intake Manifold). All that needs to be done is to reroute the fuel line and connections followed by: carburettor linkages to connect the carburettor, now significantly higher, mounted on top of a supercharger.

08.01.2022 Ynuke It's not often that an engine has let go in such mammoth proportions.... Yes, in this instance, It is a Yblock... And no, I don't know anything else about it other than the photograph which was found on a Ford fe page on the Internet. ... I can only imagine the forces involved which resulted in causing this much damage to a Yblock, it has almost been blown in two...a catastrophic failure...caused by what? That's a rare Ford C1te forged steel crankshaft broken in two pieces A hint that the engine was likely to have been operating in an extreme HP application Can anybody out there provide any details?

04.01.2022 OK, here are the two LH Fentons in the flesh.. Hello out there The Ybloke calling for the Yfolk grapevine to help me out. I have 2 Left side Fenton Cast Iron Headers...... One is New Old Stock, the other is in very nice condition. Has anyone out there got a RH Fenton Cast Iron Header or two RHs in their possession? Maybe we can work something out? And yes, there are slight differences in the Fenton Exhaust manifolds... The Manifolds are sand cast from wooden patterns and core boxes... over time the wooden patterns and core boxes suffer wear and tear and various degrees of damage..each mark, nick or blemish on the wooden patterns is reflect over and over in the sand castings that are struck from them.. The patterns are refinished, periodically to eliminate the damage/scratches/bumps that occur in the foundry sand casting methods.. Occasionally patterns can warp, if not stored correctly in a humidity controlled manner...resulting in the print catching or cores fracturing, leading to defects.. Sometimes the pattern has a bit added or trimmed from it to make the patterns release better, or alternatively a change in the runners and vents can also cause minor differences. The Ybloke 471 Supercharger Intake Manifold #00001 is slightly different from manifold #00051 for various reasons as well as the reasons stated above.... they will gradually mutate over time...
