25.01.2022 A reminder that registrations close at 8.00 pm tonight and there is no registration at the event.

24.01.2022 If there is sufficient demand we will offer a second start for our 10 miler next Saturday. A decision will be made mid-week if the current registration looks like filling up. So if you want to ensure you get a chance to run, don't leave it until the last minute to try and register. See our event page for the link to registration.

24.01.2022 Places are filling fast for our Goorooyarroo half marathon/14k on Saturday. Remember, you need to pre-register by 8.00 pm tomorrow night, as there are no entries on the day. Registration at https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=40862 See below for a map of the course.

24.01.2022 Great chance for an accurately measured 5k PB.

23.01.2022 Kingston Physio 10 miler Great to have Fleur Balmain - one of the new owners of Kingston Physio - at the start for one of our Club’s iconic events which is and has been sponsored by Kingston Physio for many years! Well done to all the runners who were spoilt by the beautiful weather. Big shout out to the TTSers who were well represented today.... Finally, thanks to DaveO and all the volunteers.

23.01.2022 It is with great regret that due to ongoing uncertainty regarding the lifting of COVID restrictions, we have had to cancel the YMCA Canberra Half Marathon scheduled for Sunday 27 September. Entrants will have already been contacted to discuss their options. Instead, we will be conducting the Goorooyaroo off-road Half Marathon on Saturday 26 September. Further details will be provided once we have a clearer idea about likely restrictions, but we will probably also have shorter courses and a relay option. So save the date, and watch this space!

23.01.2022 The YCRC wishes long time sponsor Craig Wisdom a happy retirement from his physio practice. Thanks to Craig for your years of sponsorship, including the many talks you have done for our training groups about injury prevention. The good news is that Club members will still get great service (and discounts) from Kingston Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre, and that we will still see Craig out and about TTS and our events.

23.01.2022 The 7.00 am start tomorrow morning is now fully subscribed. There are still plenty of spots at 7.15. Do not be put off this start if you think you will be a bit slower than 2 hours - up to 2 hours 15 is fine.

23.01.2022 Do your New Year's resolutions include getting fit? Planning to run in one of the Fun Runs at the Canberra Times Marathon Festival and would like some help to get there? Want to be able to run all the way at your local parkrun? Or coming back from injury and want to ease back into your running regime? Then check out our latest training group, which is starting on Sunday 14 February. We will train three mornings per week - Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30 am and Sundays at 7.30 am - meeting at the entrance to Weston Park. You will get advice and support from experienced runners, as well as all the benefits of group training. Check out the details, and register online, at https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=42215

22.01.2022 A good turn out this morning at Goorooyarroo despite the cold and windy conditions.

21.01.2022 Inspiring story from our very own 'Wonder Woman' and Club Secretary, Amanda McCormack, and her husband Dane https://www.dropbox.com//Dane%20Case%20Study%20-%20Final%2

21.01.2022 Full results from our Xmas Relays are now available at https://www.canberrarunner.com.au/index.php Please let us know of any errors - some of the handwriting was a bit tricky to decipher! And I still have a drink bottle, so send a message if you left one behind.

21.01.2022 Our events this afternoon are still going ahead. Don't forget to sign in when you get there - including spectators.

21.01.2022 Remember that registrations for our Kingston Physio 10 Miler (16k) event close at 8.00 pm tomorrow (Friday) night, and you can't register on the day. Forecast looks great for a fast event, so go to https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=40683 to sign up. Two starts available - 7.00 am for slower runners and 7.30 am for others.

20.01.2022 As advised last Tuesday and in the Club newsletter, we had a problem with the results from our Barrenjoey Spring Series events. We have now largely sorted them out, but are still missing three names from the 5k event. So if you ran and your name is not listed, please message this page with your approximate time. The results are available at https://www.canberrarunner.com.au/index.php.

20.01.2022 Results from this morning's run available at https://www.canberrarunner.com.au/index.php Given the complication of the two starts, we might have some people's times/distances incorrectly recorded. If so, just message us and we will fix up.

20.01.2022 A reminder that registration for our Ginninderra 2/4/8k runs tomorrow close at 8.00 pm tonight. Check the details, including the link to online registration, on the event page https://www.facebook.com/events/754818081958830/

19.01.2022 Some great performances today at Stromlo during some extremely wet conditions. Results at: https://www.canberrarunner.com.au/index.php

18.01.2022 One of the new owners of Kingston Physio, Fleur Balmain (left), at the start of the Kingston Physio 10 miler, with Club President Peter Thomson, who was about to take off on the bike for his marshaling duties. Fabulous conditions and fast times. See the Event page for full details. Thanks to Kingston Physio for their sponsorship of this event.

18.01.2022 Big turn up for the TTS Xmas run this morning. The one positive of travel limitations.

17.01.2022 All the best to every participant in the 2020 Canberra Times Marathon Festival! For those into Instagram head across to @canberrarunners

16.01.2022 Great advice on the need to add a strength component to your running program, particularly for those of us getting a bit older. Looking for some programs to do at home? Check out the posts on our Canberra Runners Club Distance Training Facebook page. https://theconversation.com/strength-training-is-as-importa

16.01.2022 Looking for a run after a hard day's work? Our Spring Series of events offers 2 and 5 k runs in central Canberra locations at 6.15 pm on Tuesday evenings. The first event is next Tuesday 3 November at the Boathouse, Grevillea Park, Menindee Drive. Entry is free for YCRC club members, otherwise $15 for adults and $5 for under 18s. No pre-registration - just come along an sign up on the day. If you sign up for 2021 membership now, you get these races for free, as well as all of our program for next year, So go to https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=41097 now for a great deal.

16.01.2022 A couple of events coming up in the next few days. Sunday morning is our monthly Jogalong in Weston Park, and this time the Minijog is back for the kids as well. Start time for all events is 8.00 am. On Tuesday is the next in our Spring Series. We have 2 and 5 km events on the trails at Barrenjoey peninsula, both starting at 6.15 pm.... All events are free to both 2020 and 2021 members, otherwise $15 for adults, $5 for under 18s. No pre-registration required, just sign up on the day.

15.01.2022 Congratulations to everyone who took part in our first spring series race at the Boathouse. Results are now online at the link below. Please comment if you see any mistakes. Also, there was a Peter who finished the 5km in 20:35, but we somehow deleted his surname. Please let us know if you know Peter's surname. https://canberrarunner.com.au/index.php

15.01.2022 The last race in our Spring Series events will be at Stromlo Forest Park with the usual 5k and 2k events both starting at 6.15 pm. Free for YCRC members - $15 adults, $5 under 18s. Just register at the start. It looks like being hot, but our weather policy (as per Sports Australia guidelines) is that we proceed unless the ambient temperature is above 36C, which is unlikely today. We will also cancel if there is a significant risk of electrical storms - unfortunately that decision can only be taken close to start time, but again is unlikely today. So hydrate this afternoon, bring your water bottle (there is water available at the main building) and come along and enjoy a run on the grass. If there is a breeze around Stromlo is likely to get it, so will help to cool you down.

14.01.2022 Entries open for our cross country events on 8 August. Get in quick to reserve your spot as places are limited.

12.01.2022 Our Longstaff/Pennington virtual event has had the closing time extended until 8.00 pm on Friday 7 August. Unfortunately FB doesn't allow us to change this on the event page. So still a couple of days to get your run in - and don't leave it until Friday unless you want to get wet!

12.01.2022 Spring Series and Annual Meeting A warm evening with a light breeze at Barrenjoey Drive made for terrific running conditions at last night’s Spring Series. We had another great turn out and I would particularly like to welcome all the new members. A link to last night's results will be added to comments below soon. Once again, thanks to last night’s volunteers ably led by Elizabeth Humphries. The Spring Series like all the Club’s activities relies on volunteers. Please con...tact Dave Osmond at [email protected] if you can help out. It was pleasing to see many people running in club gear including the new shirts and singlets. My thanks to Jo Legge-Wilkinson for updating our Club merchandise. The Club’s Annual meeting will be held on Monday 16 November (as in next Monday), at Leumeah Lodge, 48 O’Hanlon Place, Nicholls, commencing at 6.00 pm. All members are encouraged to attend to have your input into the future of the Club. We are always looking for new people to join the Club Committee so if you are interested but would like some more information, please contact one of the existing Committee members. Several of us will be found at the Spring Series, Jogalong, TTS and Sunday Runners. Look forward to seeing another great turnout at next Tuesday’s Spring Series event - 6.15 pm 17 November Weston Park 2/5k.

11.01.2022 Don't forget you need to pre-register if you are attending our Jogalong event on Sunday. No on-day registration is available for non-members, and members are also encouraged to sign up in advance for tracking purposes. Unfortunately we are still unable to offer the Minijog, but the 3k Midijog and 6k Jogalong handicap will go ahead. Usual start time of 9.00 am at Weston Park. Sign up at https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=40450

11.01.2022 Unfortunately our Goorooyarroo Half Marathon/14k is now fully subscribed. We have requested an increase in numbers, so watch this space for further news. Fingers crossed!

10.01.2022 Disappointing but not surprising that the Canberra Marathon has been cancelled. Here's hoping for a return in April 2021.

10.01.2022 SIX FOOT TRACK MARATHON: MERCHANDISE AND GOODY BAGS If you have organised to collect your Six Foot Track Marathon merchandise and / or goody bag from The Runner...s Shop, Phillip, then your gear is now available in store for pick up. Please have your registration number with you. If you are collecting for a friend, you will need their registration number. When you do get to run (next year?), please thank the fireys manning the aid stations. All profits from the race go the various Blue Mountains brigades of the RFS who had a very tough time over summer saving numerous properties from massive blazes. And if you are a member of the ACT or NSW RFS, we are pleased to continue to provide discounts on all of our stock.

09.01.2022 YCRC Winter Series - Ginninderra - 2/4/8 km Here are a couple of pics from the start of the 2 km event. Conditions were a tad wet but considerably drier than last week’s events. Thanks to all the runners that ran today and the volunteers who once again were prominent in rain gear, umbrellas and big grins.... Results at: https://www.canberrarunner.com.au/index.php

07.01.2022 Spring Series Black Mountain Peninsula Cloudy conditions with a potential storm brewing greeted runners at last night’s Spring Series. The results have already been published - https://www.canberrarunner.com.au/index.php. All up there were 69 participants in both events and both events were very competitive at the pointy end. It was great to see DavO having a run. ... Once again, thanks to last night’s volunteers. The Spring Series like all the Club’s activities relies on volunteers. Please contact Dave Osmond at [email protected] if you can help out. Look forward to seeing another great turnout at next Tuesday’s Spring Series event - 6.15 pm 1 December Stromlo Forest Park 2/5k.

06.01.2022 Time for some creativity.

05.01.2022 The next run in our winter series. Let's hope this one is less wet! At least it is on the bike path so better for the runners.

02.01.2022 Spring Series Stromlo Forest Park It was very hot for the last event of the 2020 Spring Series. About an hour before the races started a brief thunderstorm swept across Canberra and fortunately the temperature dropped down to 31 degrees Celsius by start time. Overall, the weather has been extremely running friendly for the entire 2020 Spring Series. All up there were 58 finishers in last night’s two events and the results have already been published - https://www.canberra...runner.com.au/index.php. SFP always provides a variety of spectators and who doesn’t love running over the hill twice! My thanks to Dave Osmond for again managing the Spring Series and it was very pleasing that Dave and all the volunteers received a warm round of applause last night. Don’t forget that next Tuesday is the Club’s Xmas Relay. This traditionally is a particularly fun event with several ad hoc and random teams participating.
