25.01.2022 Many of our fellow workers in YCW and in the broader community have experienced wage theft in various industries in SA. There are numerous barriers for many of our workers to come out and share their stories. But we are committed to rally beside our workers. We believe that wage theft is a crime and needs to be criminalized. Today we were joined by workers from various groups while we created some awesome cutout display stating wage theft as a crime . It was also amazing to have Hon Irene Pnevmatikos MLC amongst us. And also a massive thank you to fellow union member who created an amazing atmosphere by playing some great workers songs.

17.01.2022 The exciting moment for any workers group is when workers stand in solidarity with other fellow workers... During these difficult times lot of our fellow workers are doing tough and we are supporting them in any ways possible and last night our fellow worker Selina send us this picture and a message that one of her friends and the worker at her workplace had brought all this food and groceries to give to our other workers doing tough!! We would like to thank our fellow work...er working in aged care for her kind and compassionate gesture towards other young workers doing tough!! :) :) Also along with this , we would like to thank all the health care workers and workers in aged care homes (a lot of our contacts and members are engaged in this industry) who are going above and beyond and doing amazing work keeping our community's most vulnerable members safe and supported!! They deserve lot more appreciation and reward from the entire community and country!!

17.01.2022 One is never too young to learn about justice and Form oneself in the values that help create society that protects and respects the dignity of every being. We are thankful to the Mid North Christian College - Port Pirie and Uniting communities for giving us an opportunity to talk to the students about what we do and concept of justice and about worker rights and justice. We also had the opportunity to hear about the realities of young people from Port Pirie and regional South Australia from the teachers. These sharings will help us in our formation and our actions too.

15.01.2022 We would like to thank St Francis de Sales College Mount Barker , for having us as one of the panellists in their Staff Reflection Day to reflect on the concept of Mercy. Our Friends from Young Mercy Links South Australia did a beautiful presentation on their projects and actions and invited and engaged the participants to reflect on Mercy. In YCW we always believe in action and hence in the same notion We presented how we cannot meditate on mercy without turning it into ...action. We shared how mercy is not just feeling someone’s pain rather is that source of energy that empowers, enables and calls us to fight to meet the need and not just feeling it. We also reflected on YCW’s teaching on dual transformation and reflected the similar dual transformative nature of mercy, where we discussed that mercy allows us to be consciously present in the reality of the fellow being and on the due process empowers us to practice mercy not in an unilateral way, rather on a dual transformative way. It helps us to understand and recognise, mercy in action to fight and advocate for collective dignity, justice and mutual aid which is the result of dual transformation. We also discussed how mercy is genuine listening, strength and solidarity. We also used this platform to talk about the issues faced by our young workers, temporary migrant workers including international students and the need for broader community to stand in solidarity with our young workers and in the fight against injustice in the system.

14.01.2022 Did you know that YCW Adelaide has established its first central office at The Joinery (111 Franklin Street, Adelaide)? We have been operating from this cool office for a month now and time and often we get our leaders working from here. Today we had our amazing leader/ young worker, Mani visiting the office after finishing his day job and working on developing actions to work alongside young people and workers from Refugees and Asylum Seekers Background. And yes it was a b...eautiful afternoon to work from our office garden as seen in the picture. :) YCW Adelaide belongs to young people (18-35 yrs) where we reflect on the reality that we live by in our daily personal and community lives and take individual and collective actions to address any issues that we face in our realities. We have been working with various groups of young people and workers from different backgrounds including both Australian young people, permanent and temporary migrants, young people from different faith backgrounds and others. Ideally we run reviews with different groups of young people every fortnight based in different locations which has not happened in the regular basis during these challenging COVID times but we have been in regular contacts with young people and designing and executing actions to keep the momentum going on. And we promise we will start our amazing reviews soon because that is where we get connected to our young people's realities. Alternatively, Would you like to get connected with us, talk about your reality and get engaged in actions? Do you have an action in mind and would like to work alongside us? Or if you are a young person and would like to spend a lazy afternoon or evening after your study or work at our office chatting about your story, your faith journey, your work or study situation, create memes, flyers, posters or even do your own stuffs, feel free to visit our office. And as we always say, if you are a young worker, YCW is yours. We try our best to have someone at the office for attending any visitors but as you know, we are grassroots group and spend much time in community, organizing young people and workers, so please message us if you would like to come to our office and we will make sure that there will be someone to welcome you to our space and then after that you can take ownership of this space as your own and be a YCW. :)

11.01.2022 On the 28th of May we had SOL MUSIC happening at Hope's Cafe. With an incredible blues set by the fantastic RAYGUNS! salute to these legends! And this time we had quite a few new faces coming out to touch the open mic we even had a piece of spoken word poetry by one of the YCW leaders while the night came to a close with a stunning piece of Srilankan Kandyan dancing that was enjoyed by everyone! ... see you again this June !!

07.01.2022 "A young worker is worth more than all the gold in the world" Joseph Cardijn. Today we remember our founder Joseph Cardijn, in his birthday. YCW Adelaide has always carried the spirit of Cardijn, to be with young people and with young workers and fighting collectively for the dignity of young workers. In these last couple of years, we have been blessed to be present in the reality of so many young people and workers. We have walked alongside our fellow young workers, we have added our voice in the struggle of our fellow workers. We remember you Cardijn as we walk along with our fellow young workers. There is a long way to go but, in your spirit, we will reach there. Here is a short slideshow of our actions and mostly of our happy faces, as a tribute to our founder.

07.01.2022 Interim Wage theft enquiry SA report revealed that young workers are one of the groups of workers who are impacted the most by the issue. Today two of our leaders/young workers Ada Snell and Umes Acharya participated in the public consultation organised by the Hon. Irene Pnevmatikos MLC to learn about and also provide remark on the wage theft bill 2020 for SA that is going to be proposed. Ada reflected that it was the first time she ever went to the parliament house, let ...alone participating in the discussion of something like making laws. She had an assumption that it would be a very intimidating experience to be in the discussion but after the discussion, she shared that she had a great experience and learnt a lot. We strongly believe that young people need to step up and also given a space to be in the decision making tables and discussions especially when the issue in discussion directly concerns them. And opportunities like this plays a significant role in the formation and empowerment of young people. Here in this picture Ada is with the director of WWC and other representatives and CEO- MCCSA who participated in the consultation process along with other organizations.
