22.01.2022 It has been a year like no other where we lived with a 'new normal'. Buds and Blossoms was not immune. We moved this beloved program online and shared the singing, book reading and show and tell via Zoom with our hostel residents of Rosebank. At our final year celebration for 2020, our residents and pre-schoolers were together with social distancing maintained, so they could exchange gifts, laughter and Christmas cheer. ... An enormous 'thank you' to our wonderful volunteer's Joy, Gaye and Kaye who rapidly took on the new technology to continue to bring our community and hostel residents this beautiful program. To all our Buds and Blossoms families, we wish you a happy Christmas with your preschooler's and look forward to (hopefully) a more normal Buds program in 2021!

20.01.2022 Residents of Victoria are being warned to protect themselves against mosquito-borne diseases such as Ross River virus and Barmah Forest virus. Ross River virus has been detected in mosquitoes in the Gippsland Lakes area around Ninety Mile Beach. These viruses can cause symptoms including joint pain and stiffness, headache, fever, rash and fatigue.... The best protection from these diseases is to avoid mosquito bites - protective measures include regularly using mosquito repellent containing picaridin or DEET on all exposed skin, wearing long, loose fitting clothing when outside, and ensuring accommodation, including tents, are properly fitted with mosquito nettings or screens. A blood test early in the illness can indicate potential acute infection and should be repeated two weeks later for confirmation. A range of information relating to protecting against mosquito bites is available on the Beat the Bite campaign page on the Better Health Channel https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au//ross-river-virus-dise
