23.01.2022 *******************Uniform Information********************** Please note the following points regarding the return of all students to face to face teaching from Monday May 25. Full winter uniform is compulsory, with the following exception. All students with practical PDHPE/PASS lessons are allowed to wear sports uniform for that entire day. This is to avoid crowded change room facilities.... Those students wearing sports uniform for the day, must ensure they have appropriate protective footwear for practical subjects in TAS. The College canteen will be open on Monday for lunch orders, but will only have a limited supply of items for general purchase. It should be fully re-stocked and operational by Wednesday May 27. 22.01.2022 Example video of setting up a daily plan. We did very well today with 60% of students sharing their daily plan with PAC teachers. It would be good to see that to be over 80% tomorrow.

13.01.2022 9Y English with Miss West During the course of social isolation each student was to read the novel "Strange objects' by Gary Crew. This book was based around a boy who discovered artifacts that collerates back to 1627, these artifacts were vital to Australia's history. Our class (9Y English) was then asked to participate in a project based on this story. Each student used their knowledge of the book and their creativity to construct either a diary entry, website, poem or newspaper article at the time of the discovery. After 2 weeks of working hard on our projects Mr. Spina, Mr. Morton, Mr. Doyle, Mrs Iannelli and Mrs Rowlings joined us in class where we had the opportunity to display our projects and receive constructive feedback. 06.01.2022 New update in this crazy world TODAY’S COVID-19 UPDATE #2 Change to guidelines for boarding schools...... After significant consultation with Catholic Schools NSW, it has been deemed that training and participating in organised sport off campus in Leeton for boarders is now allowed. We are grateful to the organisers of the local sports groups/clubs for having the established COVID-19 protocols in place. Any boarding students participating in these training/games events will travel directly to and from the venue by College bus and engage in the practices we already in place. To be clear, the restrictions on street leave and gyms will remain. Medical appointments are considered essential. This is great news for our boarding students and staff have been exceptional in their cooperation, diligence, understanding and support. Thank you Seb Spina Principal

03.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Hi everyone, As I wrote in the last newsletter of term 2, we must remain vigilant and steadfast and careful. SFDS has worked closely with the many health, education and boarding facility governing bodies to ensure the College has diligently followed all the mandated guidelines and laws, to reduce the likelihood of infection and to keep everyone as safe as possible.... The closer of the NSW/Victorian border impacts us significantly. Please note the information below: The NSW Government closed the border with Victoria from 12:01 am Wednesday 8 July 2020. We wish to assure the St Francis College community that the school will be open to welcome students back to onsite learning from the beginning of Term 3. To help keep our students, staff and the broader community safe, it is important that we all understand the travel restrictions that are in place, and in particular if you have travelled within Victoria during the holiday break, that you understand whether the students in your household should be attending school onsite when it returns next week. In Term 3, the College will continue the follow our COVID safety plan that includes a range of measures to minimise the risk of COVID-19 infection, such as encouraging the regular use of hand sanitiser, stricter cleaning practices and a practical approach to maintaining distancing in the school environment. Students who are ill or have household members who are ill should not attend school. Returning from travel in Victoria: If students have or will have returned from travel ANYWHERE in Victoria after 8 July, they must self-isolate for 14 days after returning, prior to attending school for onsite learning. Boarding Students Our boarding facilities will be open for the commencement as Term 3 as planned. Please contact us at the school if a boarding student in your household has, or will have returned from travel in Victoria after 8 July. We have confirmed with the bus operators that the school services will run as scheduled to and from schools. Self-Isolation requires honesty, integrity, trust and discipline. You can find more information with this link: Read more about self-isolation requirements and protocols We will continue to access the latest information and will keep you posted via Compass and on this page. Kind regards and many thanks, Seb Spina

02.01.2022 A message from Seb Spina, Principal Hi all, Year 8, 9 and 10 students, We are very excited about your return to face to face teaching here at SFDS from Monday May 25. I want to take this opportunity to highlight a few important points that will assist the transition:... 1/ Please understand that the online learning model organised by your teachers will cease at that time. Attendance in class from Monday is compulsory. If you are absent, you will need to catch up on your work like any other absence. 2/ It is likely that some assessment schedules will be altered. Schools have been given permission to make these changes. It's our responsibility to ensure this is done with clarity and fairness. 3/ On Monday May 25, please move calmly to your normal PAC. Please try to keep your distance and be considerate of those who may be feeling a little apprehensive. Your Year Leader will address you and then you'll be straight into lesson 1 4/ Wear your winter uniform immaculately (put those shirts in and do those ties up lads). 5/ You're quite safe at school. Even though there's been a disruption, I have faith in your teachers and faith in you. Hopefully, you've been committed to your studies and will just "pick up where you left off". 6/ Obviously, if you're feeling unwell, DO NOT come to school. Go to the Doctor instead. 7/ Please put your manners in, keep your distance as much as possible and put a smile on your face. See you on Monday May 25 champions!!
