25.01.2022 Good to see the progress being made at Dayspring Children's Village. Manager Kim has just sent the club an update and work is going well. Also , to quote Kim "This build has allowed 7 families to gain income to eat and live during these crazy COVID times and that is a huge blessing."

25.01.2022 Meeting via zoom is providing different opportunities for guest speakers. Last night's meeting was about the End Hepatitis Now program and involved three speakers, all excellent. Robert Fisher, Past President of the RC of Melbourne; Martin Forrest from Hepatitis Victoria and Julie Cassidy providing a very personal view. It was both an informative and entertaining evening. To find out more, please visit www.hep.vic.org.au ; ring the Hepatitis infoline on 1800 703 003 or to hear the recording from last night, visit the RC of Yea's website.

24.01.2022 For what was probably the last Zoom meeting (we hope), the club was pleased to have Past Rotary International President and Rotary Foundation Trustee Ian Riseley as our guest speaker. Ian asked the club to consider where we are at now and where are we going and how we might go about getting there. He also talked about the importance of The Foundation and the good work achieved by the many Global Grants allocated and said that from July 2021, grants would be available for environmental projects.

24.01.2022 WALK WITH US FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT. Over the past six months, during the COVID-19 pandemic, people have been finding new ways to stay fit and healthy. One method has been walking the rail trail either side of the town. More and more residents have been walking themselves, their pets and with each other along the trail or elsewhere around the Yea and beyond. Polio has become the world’s forgotten disease. It is a crippling and potentially fatal disease for which there is no cur...e but for which there are safe and preventative vaccines. That is why, in October, Yea Rotary is asking you to walk with us for those who can’t. If you walk, run, ride or simply stroll, we are asking you to help eradicate and prepare for a polio-free world. From now until the end of October, we are challenging you to set a goal: 10, 20, 50 km for the month, whatever you choose, and in doing so make a contribution to the elimination of polio. Make a contribution yourself to meet your goal or get friends, family or neighbours to sponsor you. Saturday 24 October is World Polio Day and the members of Yea Rotary have chosen October to be the month when we can all band together and focus on eliminating polio from the face of the earth. And, for each dollar raised, it will be matched 2 for 1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Your $100 raised will be actually $300. Even a spare dollar or two will make a difference in saving a child from polio so that they may walk. Are you up for the challenge? Full details of how you can make your contribution will be published during the month.

23.01.2022 Thanks to Yea Community House for ensuring the people who need masks are able to receive them. A great partnership.

20.01.2022 Great to see the progress at Dayspring Children's Village in South Africa. Ruth Konig would be so pleased!

19.01.2022 Latest photos from the Dayspring Children's Village project (building a toilet block and classroom) in South Africa. Ruth Konig would be so pleased to see this wonderful work being done.

19.01.2022 At the beginning of October, we asked whether you would walk with us for those who can’t. Or you could stroll, amble run or ride and in doing so, support us as we seek to eradicate polio from the face of earth. Thanks to all who took up the challenge. Please make your contribution at the Bendigo Bank into the Rotary Club of Yea Project Account during branch opening hours. You can also make contributions be electronic banking to BSB 633-000 Account Number 144 545 126. It’s not too late to be a part of history. Your contribution will help prevent a child contracting this debilitating and potentially fatal disease. On behalf of the children of the world, thank you.

18.01.2022 The Club has had some interesting speakers via zoom in recent times and last night Harold Sharp, OAM, talked about ROMAC. This is Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children. About 25 - 30 children are assisted each year with surgery back in Australia. These children would not otherwise be able to receive treatment and in every case, it is life saving. Fantastic to know that such support can be provided to those in need. Well done to ROMAC and thank you to Harold Sharp. If you can spare a few dollars to support them, visit their website www.romac.org.au for details.

10.01.2022 Progress is being made at the Dayspring Children's Village in South Africa. The Global Grant is being used to build a much needed bathroom block and part of the conditions of the grant includes the training of workers to develop their skills. Ruth Konig would have been so pleased to see this happening.
