23.01.2022 The last 48 hours have been very windy high fire rating days along with damaging winds and severe weather last night. There have been many fallen trees over the roads that left several thousand Victorian homes without power. There were many fire emergencies recently causing grassfires from out of control fires. Please, if you are preparing to have a fire soon, be mindful of the time and weather you choose to light it.... The high northerly winds we have been experiencing, drys out grass and bush and can cause grassfires which can get away from you very quickly. When you have a bonfire, please don't walk away or go off to bed with it still burning. Rake it out and douse the heap with plenty of water until black and cold to touch. We are in for another high fire rating day on Thursday, back to more high winds.

22.01.2022 Hey neighbours! MISSING FROM LAUNCHING PLACE 14 year old William Wall has gone missing after his (usually 15min) run this morning in Launching Place on the Wa...rby Trail at 6:45am. He has not returned. He is described as Slim build with short Brown Hair, and approx 180cm Tall. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded jumper, dark-coloured track pants, black runners and had a hydration pack across his chest. Police and family hold serious concerns for William’s welfare as he has high functioning autism and he may become disorientated without food due to the length of time he has been missing. If you have seen him or happen to see him, please contact Mooroolbark Police Station on 9725 9999 or his brother Jake on 0450 349 414

19.01.2022 At 3:30 pm yesterday our rehab unit was deployed to a fire at the Marysville transfer station. On a hot day like it was, the rehab serves a vital role in firefighter welfare with our crews supplying much needed water and hydration as well as a cool place to rest in the shade. In these Covid times our hand washing facilities also get well utilized. Well done to all crews for staying safe and getting the fire under control quickly. Thank you to our crews Thomas McLean and Fiona Pettigrew.
