18.01.2022 Launch of the Scarab 10 built by Yendys. This boat has different beams to the plans. Plans are available using sliding tubes attaching the main hull to the floats.

Four strand rope A four strand rope keeps it’s round shape under tension, more so than a three strand rope, and is typically used in the standing rigging. The rope is made with a heart in the middle, which purpose is to fill out the space in-between the strands. In the rare case of closing ropes of this large diameter, our rope makers turn the hooks by hand, to stay in control during the closing. Video: Silje Ensby

09.01.2022 Working on two new Scarab 10 trimarans. These boats are different to the designs offered by Team Scarab. They have folding beams similar to some of the larger trimarans. These pictures are of the beams that hold the folding arms.

03.01.2022 The hull was primed and anti-fouling paint added to the area below waterline. Then the hull was turned over.

02.01.2022 The building frame for the Scarab 32 was assembled and the panels were attached using sheet rock screws. The panels were taped with fibreglass tape and the hull filled and sanded.

01.01.2022 Plans for the Scarab 32 folding trimaran are available from Team Scarab http://www.teamscarab.com.au/Scarab%2032/design.html We started building the Scarab 32 trimaran a few years ago and it is now near completion. We have had a few requests for pictures and questions of how it was built. The boat was built in laminated foam panels using polyester resin. Making a chine boat using panels is a very quick way to build. The panels were joined together on a table made from 4 sheets of ply with legs. The shed is only 9 metres and the boat 10 metres so the panels had to be made on the diagonal and when the panels were cut out they had to be lifted out of a window. The panels were lofted and cut out using a jig saw.

01.01.2022 The Scarab 10 foot trimaran is almost complete.
