18.01.2022 Yeppoon is part of the beautiful Shire of Livingstone which dates back to the late 1800s but officially gained its name in 1903. With such diverse industries form timber harvesting, pineapple production and agricultural crops to military the Shire has it all. The most obvious of all though is tourism and its so easy to see why. From Great Keppel Island, Byfield National Park, Capricorn Caves, the abundance of trails and stunning beaches to the bustling town centre of Yeppo...on its easy to see why tourists love the Shire! Livingstone Shire Council (LSC) is all about community and focusses on continuous improvement with great long term plans to reinvigorate the Shire. 12.01.2022 At the forefront of everyones mind at the moment is COVID-19; including ours and so it should be. Rest assured, we are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of our runners, event staff, volunteers, spectators and anyone involved. We thought it was time to give you a more detailed update around COVID-19 and in what way it has affected this years YRF. We are committed to providing a COIVD safe event which means this years race will look a little different. Here a...re some of things that are changing: - Weve worked with QLD Health on a COVID Safe plan and can confirm compliance. - Optional bib postage available to avoid unnecessary contact. - Spectator registration will be required which will be made available soon. - Changes to the start to spread out the field even further. - Hand sanitiser stations available. - Volunteers will be given gloves when manning aid stations and during other contact requiring activities. What we need you to do: - Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention. Follow the directions of your local health authority. - Practice social distancing. - If you have been in direct contact with a known case, do not attend the event. - For those who are sick, feel unwell, or have been potentially exposed to an infectious agent in advance of the race, do not attend the race, instead seek medical care. - Regularly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash your hands with soap and water, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. - Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. - Practice good respiratory hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of used tissues immediately and appropriately in a bin. - Be as self sufficient as you can and bring your water bottle to avoid contact with volunteers and others. - Please refrain from spitting or blowing your nose without a tissue. - We encourage all participants and spectators to download the COVID Safe App. Were thrilled that racing is back and we cant wait to see in October on the course healthy and safe with many more races to return!
