25.01.2022 Its R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today were calling on Australians to learn what to say af...ter R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. Theres more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before theyre in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where were all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

24.01.2022 110 years ago, September 4th 1909, a group of girls appeared at a Boy Scout Rally in the UK declaring themselves to be Girl Scouts. Lord Robert Baden-Powell, th...e founder of Boy Scouts, decided that there should be a Movement for girls. Guiding was introduced that same year to respond to the specific needs of girls and young women. Groups of Girl Guides soon started in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand and South Africa. A year later, the Girl Guide Association was officially established in the UK under the leadership of Agnes Baden-Powell, Roberts sister. By 1912 there were also groups in Ireland, Portugal, Norway and Juliette Low founded Girl Scouting in the USA in 1912. The movement continued to grow over the years, and today there are Girl Guide or Girl Scouts Associations in 150 countries! 24.01.2022 Friendship - Girl Guides is all about friendship, friendships that last a lifetime. We are a sisterhood. People that we meet along our Guiding journey, tend to be there, when we need support, even if we have not seen them for a while... Remember a friend in need is a friend indeed.
23.01.2022 We wanted to find out why girls and young women joined Girl Guides. Heres what they had to say! http://bit.ly/2E7Kdc7
22.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT For more than 60 years Girl Guides around Australia have proudly sold Girl Guide Biscuits in our communities to our families, friends, supporters a...nd businesses. They are certainly an icon of Girl Guiding and a valuable symbol of our connection with the broader community. Next year we will be launching an exciting new range of biscuits that are free from artificial additives, preservatives and flavours and importantly are palm oil free. There will be a selection of three biscuits, an ANZAC, a triple chocolate and gluten free lemon, lime and coconut biscuit. Each biscuit will be 50g and individually wrapped. Biscuits will be packaged in display boxes ready for sale in local communities. All packaging will be labelled Girl Guides so the biscuits will continue to be a reminder of Girl Guiding. The cardboard packaging is recyclable and printed with plant-based inks and the biscuit wrappers are also recyclable. This range showcases our commitment to being responsible members of the community and our recognition that environmental sustainability is one of the most important issues currently facing the planet. To produce this new range has meant that we will not be offering the Trefoil biscuits in our 2020 campaign. While this may be disappointing for some members, the new range is aligned to our values and shows that we stand by what we say we believe in. The Biscuit Ordering website will be ready at the end of January 2020 for orders to be placed during February. Deliveries will commence in May 2020. We wish you and your families a wonderful festive season and look forward to an adventure filled 2020! ~Trish Manten, CEO Girl Guides Australia

04.01.2022 WORLD THINKING DAY MESSAGE 2020 Living Threads - our theme for this years World Thinking Day. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. What a beautiful way to acknowl...edge that we are all different and yet in our differences, we are the same. The celebration of Thinking Day began in 1926 at the 4th WAGGGS World Conference where it was agreed all those who belong to the international Movement would dedicate a day to think of each other and express their appreciation. A highly respected 94-year-old tradition that is honoured every year. This year, we take the time to think of all our Guiding sisters in 150 countries across the world and to honour our differences. We belong to an organisation who values and respects each person for who they are irrespective of their appearance, nationality, religion, ethnicity, age, ability, gender and more. Thinking Day is such an opportunity to consider others and how we might welcome them into our community. I love watching the way our girls accept without question other girls who are different to them. What lessons they offer us. I encourage you to reflect on the 2020 Thinking Day theme and the rich tapestry of living threads that brings us together. Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance. (Verna Myers) Equality is giving everyone a shoe. Equity is giving everyone a shoe that fits. (Naheed Dosani) I wish you a wonderful World Thinking Day 2020.
