25.01.2022 Fire, then the rain came down. Access Road. With burnt out colverts, blocked up drains and no grass left on the hills to hold anything, you could say it was way to heavy, to fast and to soon. This was the first dumping within the first few weeks after the fire. With two more heavy rain falls after this one you can imagine how the road finished up.

After a warm cup of tea and coffee with morning tea a walk through the eucalyptus distillery, round the garden to see how fire recovery/new garden is going ahead then finishing up with some retail therapy in our farm shed shop. 23.01.2022 Early morning start with cloud hanging mid way over Blowering Dam. New pasture had a bit of growing time before winter really hit. Not much change in the euco trees just soggy underfoot.

22.01.2022 Michael came over from Batlow very early this morning to catch the morning colours off the edge of home

18.01.2022 Floor Cleaning After A Fire The dirt, the black ash and the dust is a bit hard to take after a fire and they say dont clean until you get a good bit of rain to settle all of it so it doesnt blow right back in. But their is times that I cant stand the feel under your feet and the grandkids especially the toddlers, the color of their little feet let alone the nappies from sitting on the floor, everything is just black. Maybe its the new in color! So this is what I am doin...g to make the floor feel a bit normal and cleaner for a while. I am giving the tiles a light vacuum first then only using our Eucalyptus Cleanser at this stage as it is so dirty I will not be getting very far with 1 mop bucket of clean soapy euco smelling hot water before I will have to empty it, rinsing it out and filling a new clean one again to continue. I am expecting to do at least 6 to 8 buckets to get round my large area. Read more about our Eucalyptus Cleanser at https://yesteryearplantations.com.au//floor-cleaning-after

15.01.2022 10 weeks into fire recovery. Paul fencing Carters and our boundry fence after clearing it. He made it a bit easier to handle the barb wire by making this 5 barb holder attachment for the excarvator out of the scrap heap, clever man I have Little bit of eucalyptus growth happening from the ground in some parts on the property promising but still a long way off yet. Still not a lot of green growth on the ground so far. https://yesteryearplantations.com.au/

15.01.2022 A small video taken down on the Foresty boundry. So quiet, not even any little bird sounds.

14.01.2022 Fire Recovery at 5 weeks. Little bit of green colour on the ground in the cleared country but not much happening in the bush part. Only the apple box gums have a bit of growth on them. Pasture is sparse with blackberry starting to grow and ants nests been raided all over the place.

12.01.2022 Has any Batlow, Adelong or Tumut businesses got any shredded paper that they would love to get rid of? I use it for packing our products in for mail orders and I am running low. I love using recycled materials for packing in. I will pick up on Tuesdays and can supply large boxes for a week or two storage if you produce a far bit. Give me a message on the send message button below if you can help out

09.01.2022 My favourite Narrow Leaf Peppermint Eucalyptus Tree. Our seed collecting tree, always so full and healthy. Once was a harvested tree then left years ago to grow out to be a stock shade and seed tree. I did love the shape and fullness of it. Hoping it will regenerate.

09.01.2022 Still Washing Did most of the towels out of the cupboard yesterday to get the smoke smell out of them while the rain was filling the tank 16mm Today a few more loads to do. Also decided to do all the bedding to get that build up of body odours and oils out of them. Cant wait to sleep on clean, soft, fresh euco smelling bedding tonight ... 08.01.2022 A farming family in Batlow have begun the painstaking task of rebuilding their lives, after their entire eucalyptus plantation went up in flames.

07.01.2022 Two months in fire recovery mode. Blazaid arrived and we can not thank them enough. Absolutely fantastic and amazing people from all over Australia lending a helping hand. If not working with Blazaid Paul spends most his time in the excavator filling washed out gullies from heavy rain and clearing fallen burnt trees.

07.01.2022 We are still in the recovery stage at just over 15 weeks since the fire ripped though our eucalyptus oil and beef cattle property. In the coming weeks Ill catch you all up on what we have done so far. A couple of weeks after the 4th Jan we pushed out the radiata eucalyptus plantation little trees that did not make it. https://yesteryearplantations.com.au/

05.01.2022 3 months, 12 weeks after the fire My first trip over the western side, Batlow side of our property that borders NSW Forestsand beyond, the top end of the Gilmore creek. The ground shows you how hot this part of the fire was, coming out of untouched, untreated bush country that for 12 years plus hasnt seen a control burn, 12 years of ground fuel build-up. To this date not even a Blackberry or a bit of Bracken Fern in sight. No little birds nor their sounds just dead silence. To walk on this ground is like walking on concrete, scuff it up it turns to powder, the heat has cooked everything out of it. Paul has had soil specialists up and it will be an expensive recovery plan. https://yesteryearplantations.com.au/

01.01.2022 Our sons friend from Dapto found us in the thick fog yesterday arvo. Parked it up in this site for the night to awake to the most beautiful views, they said. Gone with Paul this morning to pick a camp site to set up for the week. Somewhere for their kids to walk, run, climb logs, ride their bikes around and just be kids in a safe environment for the school holidays with their dog. ... Can even drop down to Blowering Dam to catch a fish or in our large dam. Travel out the back for a bit of snow play, bike ride one of the many trails off our boundry or the Rosewood-Tumbarumba Rail Trail 30mins away then grab a bottle of wine or cider from one of the many wineries and brewers in our area. Need to get your family out of the cities for a weekend, a week or two, we have heaps of space and fresh air on our farm. Contact us on 02 6947 5233 or send us a message
