25.01.2022 YFM's vision is to build a community that is rich and inclusive - made of people from socially, geographically and culturally diverse backgrounds. Working towards this, we're committed to listening, learning, and pursuing different perspectives and experiences. In celebration of CALD communities, we've compiled a list of our current fave foodish and non-foodish resources: https://www.youthfoodmovement.org.au/cald-resources-2020/
25.01.2022 Quinces are now in season, hailing from sunny Adelaide! They're often easy to find for free because theyre so abundant, PLUS no one really knows what to do with them. Easy, quince paste has only 3 ingredients! And stewed quinces are an excellent addition to ya porridge - the perfect autumn morning starter pack
24.01.2022 It's game on for root veg this season! Let's have some fun, cos beets are sick. Wanna elevate 'em to a first-class dip? Cube and roast some beetroot; grab some chickpeas, tahini, garlic, oil and salt; then whizz em up into an un-beet-able hummus.
23.01.2022 Extending your food to last heaps long is such a mood rn (via Good Food)

22.01.2022 PRODUCE PRO TIP! Instead of chucking out your spud skins, coat in olive oil and paprika, then roast them. Best. Chips. Ever. Get in touch with your inner potato crusader - head to our archives for more ideas www.youthfoodmovement.org.au/loving-potatoes-a-guide
21.01.2022 While we have more time to cook/bake/eat, let's stay excited discovering new recipes by celebrating not only our insta-worthy moments, but our food failures! Share with us your meal mishaps by posting a photo/vid, tagging us Youth Food Movement Australia and using the hashtag #foodfuckups Heres a stellar story from our Melb coordinator Saranne + her banana bread blunder (featured): "Most of my food cooking experiences I have managed to mess up, and I wouldn't have it any... other way. I am, by nature, an adventurous cook. One that doesn't feel the need to measure things and likes to go by 'feel'. I also very rarely have the utensils to cook with, for example I tried to cream butter and sugar with a bamix, let's say that idea was scraped quickly. Not to mention the flour I used was gluten free, due to lack of label. ha! I like to refer to my cooking as creations, rarely turning out how they look on the recipe. I listen to my favourite tunes and dance around the kitchen, forgetting that I didn't set a timer on my banana bread. I encourage you all to be kind to yourself when cooking, things don't have to turn out picture perfect, it is already your own little masterpiece."
20.01.2022 If you're a charity that delivers food relief in your community: 1) we salute you and 2) we encourage you to apply for the @feed.appeal 2020 Grants Program. Recipients can receive up to $50k! via @righttofoodcoalition
